The human mind is very invested in the idea that enlightenment will fix everything the mind considers to be wrong and broken.
What the human mind does not realize, indeed can’t realize, is that in enlightenment nothing is wrong. Nothing is broken. Enlightenment does not fix the mind’s problems, instead it makes it clear that there are no problems. In a reality that is enlightenment all experiences, death and disease included, are equally valid, equally accepted, equally welcomed.
The idea that enlightenment can cure diseases is like a child’s idea that once they grow up they will be able to play as long as they wish and get all the toys they dream of, and that no one will ever make them go to bed ever again. The child does not realize that when he grows up he will lose all interest in toys and childhood games, and that going to bed will be the best part of their day.
Enlightenment does not cure a disease of the body. Enlightenment cures the idea that a disease of the body is bad, wrong, a sign of weakness, and that it shouldn’t be.
