Funny you should ask this.
The major big building is the VAB, the Vertical Assembly Building left over from the Apollo era, and not far away are Orbiter processing buildings. I’ve visited none of these on KSC visits to see either working friends or launches. I ate in the cafeteria next to them a couple of times.
So what’s funny: I was making my 2nd trip to ski in Zermatt, and I chanced to run into the VAB’s architect. This was Dec. 2000. I ran into him late one day, and I chanced to run into him again the following day, and we sat down and had a fine chat. He lives/lived just East of Basel. We exchanged addresses, etc.
The important thing was that when I got back, I gave his contact info to friends who were astronauts. I never got close enough to the VAB to look for a dedication plaque (it requires a special badge because of the SRB (solid boosters) are basically explosive. This equipped friends with VAB trivia should they go visit the VAB. I doubt they had time to check.
The thing this fellow noted and was surprised about the VAB was that it was still standing. He asked his funders about how long they wanted the building to last, and they told him 10 years. Politicians didn’t have much faith. The VAB has sustained comparatively small amounts of damage from passing hurricanes.
The Orbiters otherwise spend their time in the Orbiter processing buildings near the VAB. The VAB will be where they get their payloads integrated into the cargo bays.
Small world.
