This happened to me a few weeks ago.

Since the day I arrived to Abidjan - Ivory Coast, I’ve heard a lot of people talking about this place that serves an amazing fish soup, with shellfish, gambas … on their menu, it’s written “Assiette du pêcheur”, wich litteraly means “the fisherman dish”, with a caption that says “a soup made of fish and seafood”.

Anyway, since it’s a ‘lil bit far from where we lived, we’ve decided to order via Internet.

I was excpeting something like showed in the picture bellow, a soup with seafod, gambas, tiny bits of fish … something delecious and fancy (since the dish was a ‘lil bit expensive, and was the best rated at this store).

15mn later, my phone is ringing, they called to confirm the command (3 soups + 3 rations of fried potatoes), and said that it will be delivered in the following hour.

An hour or so later, the delivery man is here, with a huge box where was piled 3 white plastic containers, and 3 little boxes. I paid, took my food and went back inside.

So, here is the catch. the soup looks nothing like I imagined !

There was a “whole fish, skin, head, and tail included” cut in two in my bowl, (it was almost the exact thing in the two others), a whole freshwater crab, 2 gambas with their shells on, some weird other stuff I couldn’t identify … the color of the soup was brownish, with a strong smell of spices and fish… the taste was … horrible ! the fish tasted and smelled bad … I’ll spare you the details, and let you with the pictures, they speak for themselves

We ended up eating the fried potatoes.
