Few days before Christmas this year, we flew to Vienna. Our flight was delayed due to bad weather conditions.Once we checked in, we had only a very short time left to go to the Vienna opera house to attend the famous Hansel and Gretel German opera .We made it on time for the show and were even able to enjoy a tour of the architectural wonders of the Vienna Opera house.

For dinner,we headed to an Italian restaurant. That place had great ratings ,so we were looking forward to having a nice dinner after this very fun but quite hectic day.I ordered calamari al pomodoro and my daughter a pizza.Aftet ten minutes only our orders were served. That was quick!Too quick I thought, this is not a fast food restaurant!

I was expecting this

That's what I was served!

What was this mushy thing with weird looking herbs and veggies soaking in a bath of watery sauce! The “calamari” I was served were still half frozen squids! where were the tomatoes? It is supposed to be Al pomodoro!Who's the guy who cooked this nightmare? I was so disappointed!Meanwhile my daughter was fighting with the humongous amount of cheese on her veggie pizza .Veggies? I saw none .After we both had one slice of her “pizza" ,because even starving I really couldn't eat my order, we left very disappointed and hungry. As we were walking back to our hotel, my daughter suggested that we stop by one of the famous Vienna Christmas markets for a warm drink

It was a fantastic idea. We found plenty of local homemade goodies to eat and had a great time. No regrets whatsoever here.Only the very best of Austrian hospitality.
