That the sun you can see just above the horizon is actually the sun. It’s an optical illusion. The sun is actually already below the horizon when you see it that position.

That the particles of perfume being sprayed at you from a bottle by your fun-loving child are a ‘live’ event. The sight of the particles reaches you first, with a tiny but real delay. Then comes the sound of the spray. Then the smell of the perfume and the feel of the particles on your skin. Which of those is the true live event?

That you’re tasting your food. You are to some extent but you’re also, if not mostly, smelling it.

That the events you experienced eight years ago were experienced by the same you. On closer inspection, all the cells that were you back then have been replaced.

That you have a clear view of what’s in front of you. In reality you have two blind spots caused by your optical nerves and your brain fills in the gaps. In other words your brain lies to you each and every second of the day.

That the colours you see “belong” to the objects or people you’re looking at. In reality those colours are creations of your brain. Yet another lie.

That God has ever existed anywhere other than in people’s imagination. Show me hard evidence to the contrary and I will be the world’s most enthusiastic believer.
