Okay, listen carefully.
- Don’t sleep around, be sleazy, and make a lot of unintentional babies
- Don’t date expensive people with no self-control (unless you want to stay broke)
- Do something you hate first thing in the morning (I have freezing cold showers in the morning, and because you did something really difficult in the morning, everything else that day will not feel as difficult)
- Avoid modern legal drugs like alcohol, smoking and basically anything fun
- Stop maxing your credit card to buy things you don’t need to impress people you don’t even know
- Minimize your social media exposure, especially if your friends are really superficial (that’s usually the catalyst for destructive consumeristic behavior)
- Oh yea on that point, don’t surround yourself with shitty people (if they treat you like a doormat, that’s not going to change any time soon)
- Surround yourself with people who’ve done the things you want to do
- “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” - Henry Ford (stop telling yourself you can’t, go for it, what do you have to lose by trying something new?)
- No, don’t do a STEM degree because everyone is saying how much money it makes and the market demand (that trend is no different to people wanting to do investment banking, consulting or accounting in the past, for goodness sakes pick something you enjoy and find ways to monetize that)
- Don’t work harder than everyone, be more courageous to try things others are not willing to try
- Utilize public transport where you can, and don’t borrow money to buy a car
- Aim to save 60+% of your paycheque consistently
- Avoid putting your savings into a bank account unless you want that money to rot away
- Learn to invest via youtube, books and FIRE blogs
- Learn from people who’ve done it themselves
- Don’t trust anyone except yourself
- Invest in yourself, and work on your craft consistently
- At least 20 minutes of exercise 5 times a week (try lifting or boxing classes, sometimes you need to let that anger out on barbells or punching bags)
- Sleep 8 full hours every day (you can thank me later)
