Most car insurance companies are kind of banking on you not noticing that they’re overcharging you. But unlike the olden days where everything was done through an agent, there are now several ways to reduce your insurance bills online. Here are a few ways:
1. Take 2 minutes to compare your rates
Here’s the deal: your current car insurance company is probably charging you more than you should be paying. Don’t waste your time going from one insurance site to another trying to find a better deal.
Instead, use a site like Coverage.com, which lets you compare all of your options in one place.

Coverage.com is one of the biggest online insurance marketplaces in the U.S., offering quotes from over 175 different carriers. Just answer a few quick questions about yourself and you could find out you’re eligible to save up to $600+ a year - here.
2. Use your driving skills to drop your rate
Not every company will do this, but several of the major brand insurance companies like Progressive, Allstate, and Statefarm offer programs that allow you to use a dash cam, GPS, or mobile app to track your driving habits and reduce your rates. You just have to do it for a month typically and then they’ll drop your rate.
You can find a list of insurance companies that offer this option - here.
3. Fight speeding tickets and traffic infractions
A lot of people don’t realize that hiring a lawyer to fight your traffic violations can keep your record clean. The lawyer fee oftentimes pays for itself because you don’t end up with an increase in your insurance. In some cities, a traffic lawyer might only cost $75 per infraction. I’ve had a few tickets for 20+ over the speed limit that never hit my record. Keep this in mind any time you get pulled over.
4. Work with a car insurance company that rewards you for your loyalty
Sticking with the same car insurance provider should pay off, right? Unfortunately, many companies don’t truly value your loyalty. Instead of rewarding you for staying with them, they quietly increase your rates over time.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Some insurers actually reward long-term customers with better deals and additional perks. By switching to a company that values loyalty - like one of the loyalty rewarding options on this site - you can enjoy real benefits, like lower premiums, better discounts, and added coverage options tailored just for you.
5. Find Out If Your Car Insurance Has Been Overcharging You
You can’t count on your car insurance provider to give you the best deal—they’re counting on you not checking around.
That’s where a tool like SavingsPro can help. You can compare rates from several top insurers at once and let them pitch you a better price.
Did you recently move? Buy a new car? Get a little older? These changes can mean better rates, and SavingsPro makes it easy to see if switching providers could save you money.
All it takes is a few minutes to answer these questions about your car and driving habits. You’ll quickly see if it’s time to cancel your current insurance and switch to a more affordable plan.
These are small, simple moves that can help you manage your car insurance properly. If you'd like to support my work, feel free to use the links in this post—they help me continue creating valuable content. Alternatively, you can search for other great options through Google if you prefer to explore independently.

Over the phone with a customer service agent is the easiest way, but not necessarily the cheapest way. Unless there's a reason you can't make it online like using a voucher, making a reservation for someone under 18 traveling alone or a internet tech issues, ect. there's a 25.00 fee per person to book over the phone. NEVER book on 3rd party websites, ALWAYS book on an airlines website for many reasons. 99.9 percent of the time the fare is the same, you get better customer service, if you make a mistake (airlines won't waive the change fee if you made resv on 3rd party websites), 3rd party site

If you do make a resv with 3rd party always call the airline they book you on and make sure they have your contact info and make sure you were assigned seats. You don't always get the seats you think you were getting. As you can see I am not a fan of 3rd party websites. As a resv agent when I pull up a resv made by a 3rd party I cringe. So many issues.

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance
You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.
Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.
If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.
Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.
2. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10
Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.
An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.
With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.
Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.
So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.
This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.
3. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company
If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.
If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.
The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.
It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.
4. Earn $1000/Month by Reviewing Games and Products You Love
Okay, real talk—everything is crazy expensive right now, and let’s be honest, we could all use a little extra cash. But who has time for a second job?
Here’s the good news. You’re already playing games on your phone to kill time, relax, or just zone out. So why not make some extra cash while you’re at it?
With KashKick, you can actually get paid to play. No weird surveys, no endless ads, just real money for playing games you’d probably be playing anyway. Some people are even making over $1,000 a month just doing this!
Oh, and here’s a little pro tip: If you wanna cash out even faster, spending $2 on an in-app purchase to skip levels can help you hit your first $50+ payout way quicker.
Once you’ve got $10, you can cash out instantly through PayPal—no waiting around, just straight-up money in your account.
Seriously, you’re already playing—might as well make some money while you’re at it. Sign up for KashKick and start earning now!
5. Earn Up to $50 this Month By Answering Survey Questions About the News — It’s Anonymous
The news is a heated subject these days. It’s hard not to have an opinion on it.
Good news: A website called YouGov will pay you up to $50 or more this month just to answer survey questions about politics, the economy, and other hot news topics.
Plus, it’s totally anonymous, so no one will judge you for that hot take.
When you take a quick survey (some are less than three minutes), you’ll earn points you can exchange for up to $50 in cash or gift cards to places like Walmart and Amazon. Plus, Penny Hoarder readers will get an extra 500 points for registering and another 1,000 points after completing their first survey.
It takes just a few minutes to sign up and take your first survey, and you’ll receive your points immediately.
6. Earn as Much as $1K/Month Doing Simple Online Tasks
Is there such a thing as easy money? If you know your way around the web, there certainly is.
That’s because data is currency these days, and many companies are willing to pay cash for it — up to $1,000 per month.
Finding these companies can be time-consuming on your own. But a company called Freecash has compiled all sorts of quick cash tasks from about a dozen advertisers and market research companies thirsty for more data. Freecash has paid out over $13 million to users since 2019.
You can pick and choose your tasks and complete them at your convenience. The coins you earn from each completed task can be converted into things like Visa gift cards, Amazon gift cards, cryptocurrency or cold-hard PayPal cash.
Signing up for a Freecash account is easy and there’s no minimum amount you need to earn before you can cash out. And if you’ve got enough free time on your hands, you can join the ranks of Freecash users making more than $1,000 a month in extra cash.

7. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven
A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.
If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.
On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.
8. Get Up to $300 Just for Setting Up Direct Deposit With This Account
If you bank at a traditional brick-and-mortar bank, your money probably isn’t growing much (c’mon, 0.40% is basically nothing).
But there’s good news: With SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC), you stand to gain up to a hefty 3.80% APY on savings when you set up a direct deposit or have $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits and 0.50% APY on checking balances — savings APY is 10 times more than the national average.
Right now, a direct deposit of at least $1K not only sets you up for higher returns but also brings you closer to earning up to a $300 welcome bonus (terms apply).
You can easily deposit checks via your phone’s camera, transfer funds, and get customer service via chat or phone call. There are no account fees, no monthly fees and no overdraft fees. And your money is FDIC insured (up to $3M of additional FDIC insurance through the SoFi Insured Deposit Program).
It’s quick and easy to open an account with SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC) and watch your money grow faster than ever.

In fact, the AA site when redeeming miles can offer some interesting options when you activate the section that tells the AA site to look at OneWorld partner flights. I’ve had some amazing revelations, such as the past week when I needed a Business class flight from Budapest to Heathrow (BA are currently not operating the route.) AA suggested that I fly from Budapest to Helsinki on Nordic Regional in the evening, overnight at the Radisson at Helsinki Airport, then take the breakfast flight from Helsinki to Heathrow. It was such an interesting option I’ve actually booked it! All for a measly 22k miles!
Never forget when using the AA site for flights that you have more options than just AA.

If she paid up and flew anyway, follow up with customer service and see if they’ll refund the difference in fare as a customer service gesture.
One way to guard against this for future bookings is to always look for and expect a ticket number shortly after booking. No ticket number means no ticket, despite what the emailed itinerary might say. It’s rare but it does happen :(

At the beginning of all this travel, I really attempted to get the “cheapest” fare, at the expense of giving up frequent flyer status. After a while, I began to look a little closer at comparisons and, over time, found that it’s almost always possible to find a decent fare - although perhaps not at the “best” travel time. The First Rule is be flexible in your timing and you’ll get better fares.
From San Diego, almost everything goes east, and with a no-flights-before-6am curfew, it’s already 9 am on the East Coast, and with a 5 hour direct flight, and 7+ if there is a layover, there is no way that you’re doing any work on the east coast on a travel day. Therefore shopping times will allow choosing the cheapest flight.
I was required to use Concur for booking for multiple years, and Concur doesn’t by any means give the entire picture. Using Concur, I would “take a look” at different on-line booking sites first, such as Expedia, American, or others, and then to try and stick with American as much as possible, Now days I will go to those sites, and then to the American site which is AA.com and compare. Seldom do you find that the airline site won’t match or beat any airfare listed elsewhere.
There is a myth that Southwest always has the cheapest fares. They do not. Often not by a long shot. What they do have is fixed fares, a “long time” and a “short time” fare (and sometimes a “wanna getaway” special fare that is hard to beat - as long as you don’t have to change). Usually, the legacy airlines have better fares a long time ahead than SW does, but legacies have higher fares if you’re very last minute when SW will usually be equal or slightly cheaper. (Yes, I know - not always - there are always exceptions). The big advantage of SW is changeable flights, but if you don’t mind cattle call, ok. I’ve been Executive Platinum with American “forever” (at least I was until this year), and almost always coming back I get upgraded to “First Class”, which is one reason I try to maintain one airline. Outbound I get upgraded only about half the time, but I do get the “coach plus” (or whatever they call the 2 inches of extra leg room these days) for no extra cost. I have heard that San Diego has the highest per-capita ratio of Executive Platinum flyers in the US, but I have no proof of that, other than when you’ve been there forever and fly as much as I have and STILL don’t get an automatic upgrade outbound, it makes sense.
The big advantage to me of “first class” is not the meal or drinks or getting on or off first - but that I actually have enough room to work. I’ve been on some flights in coach where it wasn’t even possible to open a lap top level as it wouldn’t fit between my torso and the seat ahead of me. (Tilted it is a pain in the ass to type - so I’ve told my company that if they want me to work instead of watching movies - all they have to do is pay for a better/bigger seat). Additionally, If I don’t get upgraded to First Class, I do get the “more space” seats at no cost, I get free baggage (yes, I know, everyone gets “free” baggage on SW), I do get to choose my seat (I prefer window seats, and I’ve flown enough that I can tell you where the left over World War II USAAF training fields are in Arizona, or that the bright thing on the horizon if you’re looking towards Las Vegas is the solar electric facility at the Nevada/California state line) and I never have to move for anyone to go to the toilet.)
But as for the basic question; how to book the “Best Class” - first you need to define “Best”. If it’s just the highest class of service, break out your checkbook and pay for it. If you want to define “Best” a little more precisely, such as by “best bang for your buck,” or “Best time of day”, or “shortest total flight duration” or “smallest number of stops,” then it becomes a little bit different, and the results don’t always make sense. For example, I just looked on AA for a flight, tomorrow, returning a week from tomorrow, from San Diego to JFK - just about as far as you can go across this country.
For tomorrow, they are listing a round trip, coach class, at $728. To book it First Class, it’s $3700 dollars, and here’s the anomaly; there are “business class” tickets - but they’re more expensive than First Class - at $5200. First Class is available on all flights, all day long - whereas Business Class is only available on a couple of flights.
However, If I move that flight to a month from tomorrow, returning a month and a week, the fares range from Coach $384-$538, First $1345-$2200, and Business $2662-$2699. Obviously it pays to “book ahead”. The “range” of prices is showing that time of day is a big factor - if you can travel when everyone else doesn’t want to, it will be cheaper. Supply and demand at work.
Remember my comment about SW not be cheapest? First, they don’t fly to JFK, but if I accept LGA as the alternate, a flight a month from today has “Wanna-getaway” fares at $497-$546 (From $100 more than to the same as American), their “Anytime” fares are $665-$670, and their “Business Select” (which just means you get to board first in the cattle call) is $689-$699. Since everything on SW is “coach”, flying tomorrow, I can buy SW for $29 cheaper than the cheapest American, and if I’m booking a month ahead, American can be up to $110 cheaper. Like I said, with SW, IF you have to change, you’ll pay the difference to the “Anytime” fare, same as if you booked it today for tomorrows flight, but at least there is no “change fee”. With American, if you bought a non-refundable ticket, you’ll have to pay a several hundred dollar ‘change fee” AND the difference between what you paid and the current price. The bottom line is that ALL the airlines screw around somehow - if you’re going to ‘save’ the $110 by getting American ahead of time, they’ll get it back on the change fees and then some. If you buy the SW and have to change, you didn’t save to begin with, but don’t pay quite as much for the change. Six of one - half a dozen of another. What’s your poison? Why are the prices for the “best” seats so high? Because they can charge what the market will bear. The seat booked a month ago for $1345 dollars is the same seat that will tomorrow go for $3700 dollars - and they know that people who absolutely must travel tomorrow that haven’t planned ahead are probably business people who will pay what they have to. So if you have to go tomorrow, and you have to have space to work, or you stand 7′ 2″ tall and need the extra leg room (Hello again Bill Walton - was a pleasure flying beside you and chatting a few years back!) then perhaps you will pay that.
And as for partner airlines, on the American website, at the bottom, there are three “option” boxes. One of these option boxes is “Airline” of which the choices are “American,” or “All Airlines”. All Airlines isn’t really “All”, it’s just all of the partners of American, of which they will show it to you as the American “code-share” flight first. For example, if you need to fly to Dodge City, Kansas, of which I assure you there is an airport and there is air service there, it won’t show as American does not fly there, but if you want to fly to the nearby Garden City, Kansas, American does fly there and that is all that will show - as they are the only ones that fly there (Or did - it’s been several years for me).
Here is where you can sometimes find a better price by searching Expedia or equivalent first. For example if you want to fly to Madrid from San Diego, one route would be the non-stop SAN to London-Heathrow on British Air, transferring to an Iberia hop from LHR to Madrid. On AA site it will show as all AA flights, with a notation by each leg that it’s “Operated by BA” or “Operated by Iberia”, etc. Sometimes by booking with British Airways, or Iberia, instead of American, you might save a few bucks, and they’ll alternately show as the BA code share numbers, or the IB code share numbers, but it’s all the same physical airplanes. Usually, no matter which airline, booking the entire round-trip with one booking, is cheaper (substantially) than trying to piecemeal a flight yourself with multiple airlines. Not only will you be responsible for transferring luggage, but I have seen that listed one-way flights can be more expensive than an entire round trip.
My experience with American has always been outstanding - with one exception. I had a flight to London a couple of years back that went from San Diego to Dallas to London. Corporate booking, it was a few bucks cheaper to route that way than it was to take the direct flight in the evening on British, so that’s what the company booked for me. I supposedly had a moderate 2 hour layover in Dallas… at least I did until a mechanical problem delayed our departure for almost two hours in San Diego. When we landed in Dallas, after making up several minutes, I could have caught the flight, except that knowing I was late they had already cancelled me out, and rebooked me onto a later flight. I queried when I got there about options, and there was one flight, that if I’d run between terminals, I probably would have caught, but since they already had me on a flight just a little later, didn’t matter that much. I dilly dallied a bit, and then looked at the rebooking, and then had to ask “where is gate 25, or perhaps better - which terminal is it in?” The screw up was that instead of rebooking from Dallas to London, they rebooked me on the direct flight from San Diego to London (the one that my company hadn’t originally chosen as it was a few dollars more), missing that I had already left San Diego. Oops. I was a bit perturbed at the time, but got where I needed to on time.
Of course there are no guarantees with any of this, that’s just my experience and preferences.
Well, what reason did they give? If a flight is cancelled then it is usual practice to transfer the passenger to a different flight (without charge), rather than ask them for more money to travel on the original, cancelled flight.
I think you need to find out from your daughter exactly what is going on.
