I had a co-worker when I worked retail who would come in, shop for an outfit, buy the outfit, change in the restroom, wear the outfit all day, then change back into her “street clothes” and return the outfit at the end of the day; most often with the tags still attached. Even though the outfit was worn the store HAD to take it back because of the way their return policy is written. She also came in early and did her make-up at the cosmetic sample counter every day. Her “reasoning” was if someone complimented her (insert whatever here) she could say “Oh, I bought that here, let me show you where it is!” We didn’t work on commission by any means so it made absolutely no sense whatsoever. She finally got fired when management caught her giving extra discounts to people that would buy her “suggestions” Again, we didn’t work on any form of commission, so no one could figure out her reasoning for this.

I worked at a garden shop and a co-worker would wait for the weekends our manager was out of town; she’d drive up to her cabin every other weekend and she’d set up tables in the shop to sell her own stuff; Scentsy, Avon, Pampered Chef, etc. This woman had a whole enterprise going on.

My favorite though; I was a lifeguard in high school and one of the guards sabotaged the pool by purposely not checking the chlorine system because he wanted to have the weekend off, by the time the weekend came we had to close because the water was too cloudy. The reason he didn’t get fired? when the repair guy came in to see what was wrong, they found a huge problem that would have caused thousands of dollars of more damage if the system had been working right over the weekend.
