DO THIS EVERYTIME

My number hack is a really simple one, but has saved me from a long cold night, and from being in bad mood all the trip.

When you are packing, grab some big thrash bags, and put them inside your bag, and then put your clothes inside the bag and close it tight, it might take more than one bag to pack all your clothes and remember to get the air out, or you will lose precious space.

Also, bring an extra one

Why would you want to do this?

To avoid this

You don’t know when rain could begin, and usually you won’t have a waterproof backpack, and even then I would still recommend to do this, because if you didn’t close the zippers all the way, you could get leaks.

Basically you are protecting your clothing from getting wet before you put it on, the feeling of putting dry clothes when you are going to sleep after being all day walking, hiking, setting up tarps, cooking is incomparable.

Why the extra one?, you need a place to put your dirty clothing, and in the worst case, you could improvise a poncho for the rain with the bag.

Once someone dropped my bag on a river by accident, the bag was damp, but this trick saved me.

A couple other hacks I do is bringin extra socks. I don’t know why, but I prefer an extra pair of socks than an extra shirt or pants. my rule of thumb is 1 pair a day + 2 extra pairs.

Learning to Ranger Roll, look it up, it is a way of packing that will make things easier, and goes well with the thrash bags.

Using a hoodie or a jacket as a pillow, roll it up and lay down.

If you are bringing food for a large number of people, the way of packing is important, especially for bread, if there is a small number, I would put it in a shoebox, this provide some extra protection. With cereal I leave the box, taking only the bag, for any jar that is not sealed like spices, coffee, open the lid, put a little plastic film or piece of plastic bag, and then close the lid with it, this will prevent spills.

Those are all that I can thing of right now, well I have another one actually but it has to do with the way of doing number 2 in nature, so I’ll save that for later

Happy camping
