I have been laid some rules in me to save and also enjoy at the same time.
Things to say “NO”
- Credit card - This is just a simple plastic card but dangerously an money spender, Seen people spending just to earn bonus points.
- Postpaid sim - Always choose prepaid sim where the customization can be done and based on amount you will spend and there is no fine on late payment.
- Loans - Never ever take loans and pay hefty interests, Alternatively always keep emergency funds.
- Never keep all savings in single bin, Spread in FD, MF, Property, Gold, bonds.
- Gadgets - Don’t change the smartphones regularly and technology changes in faster pace and keeping update with it looses more money.

Things to “AVOID”
- Shopping - Better to buy clothes and apparels in local shop instead malls, As malls are always expensive.
- Food - Try to always cook your food instead going restaurants, Once in a week/month would be fine visiting restaurant.
- Transportation - Instead using cabs, Try using car pooling apps and public transportation.
- Car and Bike - While buying the vehicles look for Mileage instead luxury as costlier one also carries a costly maintenance bill.
- Avoid lending money to people until you are sure that it will be back in stipulated time.
- Pets - Nowadays maintaining pets are costlier than human beings and let them be free instead keeping in cages, Alternatively grow plants, trees and look after them.

Things to “Follow”
- Use the promotional android applications which pay some bonuses (monthly prepaid recharges can be easily done through those).
- Always keep some secondary income and make sure you are earning even while sleeping(Ex: FD, RD, MF these pay intrest in regular basis).
- Try to fix the things yourself like servicing bike, Watch battery replacement,Pressing clothes, electrical items. (These things reduces small amounts but in long run it will impact the savings).
- Always maintain a portfolio to keep track of your savings and maintain double digit annual portfolio returns.
- Use tax filing with more effectively like using Rental agreements, Mutual funds, Insurance, Food and leisure bills.
- Planning for trip always try going in groups which reduces expenses on the sharing basis.
- Learn something new, which makes your profile go up in market.
- Have healthy food like consuming more veggies, fruits, cereals and pulses which increases your immunity and decreases illness.
- Try to save money first and then spending, this makes savings more and spending less.
- Always keep emergency funds in Fixed deposit which can be liquidated anytime and I suggest to keep in different denominations like 3 Fd with 10K, 25K and 65K instead of 1L Fd, Eg: (If you need 5K then easily you can liquidate 10K one instead of liquidating 1L).
- Many theories explained renting is better than buying a flat, This is left to you as people have different mentalities.
- Always wash your clothes with pressing and keeping in wardrobe makes you feel good, Instead if you are dumping in laundry bag and in a week you feel you have less clothes to wear(Shopping comes in mind).
- Never waste food, Cook how much you need and if left over then reheat and eat.
- Grow plants and trees which yield fruits and veggies and reduces your grocery budget amount.
- Start saving as early as possible either its less or more, Save it and earn good returns in long run.
I will be updating as I learn something new in savings.
