If “How to convert your Visitor Visa to a Canada PR?” is what you’re asking. It is not possible.

Immigrants in Canada on a Visitor Visa will not become permanent Canadian residents. They will remain temporary residents and must return to their home country once the duration of their stay is over.

Now, you have two options:

Option 1: You apply for a Visitor Visa extension of up to 6 months (minimum 2 weeks before your current status expires) - and enjoy another 6 months in the Great White North. If your current status expires while your extension application is being processed - you may remain in Canada until a decision is made. This is called implied status.

Option 2: You apply for a Canada PR visa like everyone else. The Canadian government offers some of the easiest and quickest ways to achieve permanent residency.

  • If you’re a Skilled Worker: Check your eligibility to directly apply for Canada PR under popular programs such as Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).
  • If you have a job offer: Secure a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, gain Canadian experience, and apply for Canada PR.
  • If you’re an International Student: Obtain a study permit to pursue a program in Canada. After completing your studies, you may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit, leading to permanent residency.
  • If you have a family member in Canada: If you have a close relative who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, they may sponsor you for Canadian permanent residency.
  • If you’re a businessman: If you have an innovative business idea and are interested in starting a business in Canada, you can apply through Canada’s Investor Visa programs – automatically becoming eligible for permanent residency.

Hope this helps.
