Okay, it does not exactly boost your chances - it helps.

While having a sponsor can be beneficial, providing bank account statements showing your own financial capacity is generally considered a strong way to prove your ability to support yourself financially during your studies in Canada.

But that doesn’t mean such applications are prioritized. If you have the funds readily available and meet the requirements set by the Canadian immigration authorities - you’re good to go. Doesn’t matter the way you use to demonstrate your proof of funds.

You can also provide proof of funds in the form of a bank draft in convertible currency, proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada, or a letter from a person or institution providing financial support.

And yeah, the exact amount required may vary depending on your specific circumstances, such as the duration of your program and whether you're studying in a province with higher living costs. Consider that as well.

Good Luck!
