Thanks for invitation,
I will answer this question as a student from China.
I got my bachelor of EE at Shanghai, then I came for Master Programm in RWTH Aachen(German Taught)
Compared to Shanghai Aachen is a small town. You can reach every corner of Aachen by walking within one hour. As a student u get a semester ticket with which you can take the buses and trains inside the whole NRW, this a really good benifit for students.
I lived in a apartment with monthly rent 350 euro all included. If you live in the student room the cost will be around 200. Girls get a student room more easily, because both man and woman tend to have a female roomate.
A meal in the campus mensa will cost 3–5 euro. They dont provide dinner in mensa. going to the Restaurant will cost more, like 10 - 20 euro. There 3 chinese restaurant I visit frequently, Ya, Dongfanghong, and City Garden. After one year I began to take train to other city (eg. Köln, Düsseldorf, Maastricht) for dinner, but only on weekends, the train travel will take more than 1 hour.
The courses are hard, especially when you want to finish the exams in 1 year, and go to the oral eaxm using German. But after all, I did get some useful skills from the master program. I stronly recommend students to find a RA position in a institute to gain some practical skills.
After finishing the exam we will do Internship, as Aachen is small it does not provide enough Intern positions. We go to other cities for Internship: Düsseldorf, Duisburg, München, Sttutgart, Zürich or even Singapore, New York.
Aachen is a stop in my life, it’s small and beautifull, and with low cost, but I’d not stay here for a whole life time.
