Married only 6 months, we began moving into our shiny-new, just built house.
In-laws came roaring in from out of state to “help” us move. They brought their hateful little chihuahua with them. My first days in the house were spent preparing meals and accommodating them.
That stinkin dog peed in every single room, wherever there was carpet. (We didn’t have any pets.)
Not one word of apology or offer to clean up.
So much for our squeaky-clean, brand new house…

Fast forward a few years.

Same in-laws, different dog (another chihuahua) came visiting for a week, Christmas holidays.
I was expecting our second baby.
Toddler was perched on couch & I was sitting on floor in front of him - we were sharing a bowl of ice cream.
Doggo marched up and peed all over me.
Again, not so much as a word of apology, dismay, or attempt to admonish the dog. (much less monitor him)

\When MIL passed away, we inherited her dog. Another chihuahua. Never housetrained, a neurotic mess. We had vet check her out, got her on a decent diet & managed to teach her basic house rules.
She actually turned into a pretty decent little pup, and lived many happy years with us.

I love dogs. But chihuahuas are not my favorite.

EDIT: I realize now (thanks to a response) that my remarks suggested that chihuahuas are an unfavorable, hateful breed. My apologies for giving that impression. As I was reminded, it’s the irresponsible OWNERS who do not properly train their pups. This applies to all breeds that are purportedly dangerous etc (i.e. pitties etc.). Please note the sentence in my post, acknowledging that the Chi we inherited became a good little pup. (thanks to love, good care and training.)
