Love in its purest form can save one from all the curses ( woes, difficulties, hindrances etc). This is what Maleficent taught me).

And yes, when betrayed in love by the power seeking Stefan, the urge to avenge him rose in her and she cursed princess Aurora overpowered by her desire to avenge the king.

But as love is the panacea, motherly feelings in her dominated her dislike for Aurora when she was truly loved by her. She wanted to revoke the curse and tried in vain.

At the end, it's her true love kiss and the motherly tenderness that broke the spell and saved Aurora. !!!

In a nutshell, A MOTHER'S LOVE IS BEYOND ALL THE POWERUL MAGIC AND SAVES ONE FROM ALL THE EVIL CURSES. (Harry Potter is another example).
