That when you move into an apartment, at least in Berlin, much of the time there’s nothing there. No kitchen (no KITCHEN), no lights, no closets, no curtains, no rugs, no cabinets, NOTHING. Floors, doors, windows, and ceilings are provided; bathrooms, thankfully, do come equipped with a sink, toilet, and shower/bath.
You become very good friends with the local IKEA or Bauhaus.
