This incident happened at my workplace.

One of my colleague ( Let's call him Nut) do have passion for wrist watches. Once this Nut bought a Swiss Rolex and came to office wearing the same. That looked something like this.

Nut's passion isn't just limited to buying and wearing the costly watches. He shows it off at the workplace to each and every individual. And people use to praise his newly bought imported watches.

Everything was fine, until one day I hear Mr. Nut arrogantly asking another colleague (let's call him Mike) that does he know what's the difference between wearing a Rolex and an ordinary watch like he's been wearing since years??

Mr. Mike replied, “ No, he doesn't have any idea”.

To which Mr. Nuts replied boastfully showing the watch on his wrist, “Your watch just shows the time , but my watch is showing my status”. (#Insult)

The way he said it, was so inglorious and humiliating that it was impossible for me to ignore it ( As my desk is adjacent to his).

Taking Mr. Mike side, I replied, “Okay Mr. Nut, your watch might be showing your status, but you know what is it still lacking??”

Getting curious about it Mr.Nut asked me what is that it's still lacking??

To which I humbly replied, “Sir! It still lacks the ability to give the necessary wisdom you should have at your age while that wisdom is evident and enough with Mr. Mike as he could easily afford a Rolex but he didn't give rats ass to such a pity thing”.(#comeback)

Mr. Nut was silent.

Maybe not as good comeback as here mentioned already but still a good one at the moment. As they say “ Just in time”.
