Back in the 80s I was buying up old studio pianos, (those big old ugly ones that weighed a ton and were sometimes called upright grands because the soundboard was so long.) I would pull the works out of them and make a desk, aquarium frame, entertainment or a wet bar on the inside. The cabinets on these monsters were made out of the best quality woods in their day.

I bought two from a nice old lady in a great neighborhood. More than anything she just wanted them gone. We loaded them up and took them to my place. One of them was a lot heavier than the other. There was no reason for it to be heavier in that both were close to the same size and age.

When I popped open the lower panel I found boxes in both corners. When I pulled them out I found they were filled with huge complete sets of antique silverware. One was Chateau Rose and the other was Buttercup. I had two sets of 12 service complete with serving pieces.

I called little old lady telling her i found some boxes in the base of vh the piano that was up stairs. She told me she knew it was there but had never bothered with it. A buddy of mine was in the business and sold them for me. I bought a new car with the proceeds.
