My wife once received a phone call from an angry woman demanding how she knew her husband.

The angry woman had found my wife’s phone number on her husband’s phone, along with her husband’s description that the number belonged to a woman he met at a bar the night prior.

My wife asked her where she was calling from. The woman said she was calling from Sydney. My wife pointed out to her that she lives in Melbourne about 900 km away, and assured her that she did not fly a plane out to Sydney to go to a bar — that would have been difficult since she had to take the kids to and from school that day.

Since I was sitting beside my wife on the couch during the call, I could have confirmed her movements if required.

My wife suggested that maybe the woman her husband thought he was picking up brushed him off with a fake number. The angry woman was flustered but sort of apologized.
