My step dad was a very mean person. I hated him for a long time. He was extremely mentally and physically abusive towards my siblings, my mother and me.

One day he got sent to prison and decided to make his only one and only allowed phone call to our house. I answered and the operator asked if I wanted to accept the call from him (his name was given by the operator)

I accepted the call and he nicely asked me to wake up my mom to figure out a way to get him out of prison.

I told him “sure, I'll let her know. Bye” and hung up the phone.

I never said a thing to my mom.
