I experienced the positive side of unfair. I was one of the smart kids who didn’t have to work very hard. Even when I did things that I wasn’t supposed to, I usually got a pass.

The most unfair thing that happen to my brother & I was that we were in the same physics class in my junior year, and my brother’s senior year. We had an ancient teacher who had long ago quit actually reading what his students turned in.

We were assigned lab partners alphabetically. So my brother D was paired with the prettiest girl in the school S.A. I had a normal partner, S.B. About three weeks into the first term, our teacher looked at us and asked if we were brothers.

So S.A. and S.B. became lab partners, and my brother was stuck with his little brother. That was certainly unfair to my brother.

Worse was that we knew the teacher never looked at our lab reports. So D drew two identical diagrams, and I typed up two identical lab reports. I always got an A for my work, and my brother always got B for exactly the same material.

D was steamed, but he couldn’t do anything, since we were cheating.
