I joined MidhaFIn in 2020 and took the prerecorded lectures at first. Before joining, like many others, I searched for recommendations in quora and made a list of material providers. I saw sample video lectures and compared the price. MidhaFIn scored most in overall rating considering the price and quality both.
Initially they told me to see free access lectures in Udemy and then I bought the prerecorded package. I first started reading in my own time and then in July 2021 I joined the live classes too. They had a plan for upgrade with a reasonable fee.
There are some points that requires special mention about Midhafin
- They make you recognize that the quantitative part is the foundation of FRM part one curriculum and the faculty has taken a lot of consideration in explaining all the concepts so that it becomes easy for even people who is not in touch with Maths to understand them.
- They have given a schedule in such an organized manner that the topics are linked together one by one in a coherent manner and once you start revising you understand the beauty of that linkage. And one advise for all the aspirants, do not go to exam without revising at least once. Otherwise it will be a waste of time.
- They take five mock tests and the type of questions asked is updated with time so that you are prepared for the actual exam. Now a days, the exam has a very few number of questions that directly asks to calculate something. Theory questions are more. The GARP textbooks also mentions that in real world, all the professionals are going to use software. So the requirement for any aspirant is to understand the concept. There were actual questions where they asked what is the next step after the given step if you want to calculate a particular parameter given in the question. No calculation is required, no data is given, Only thing you need to do is tick the correct option. Midhafin mock tests really tries hard to emphasize this requirement through their mocks.
- Their doubt clearing options are good. All the questions previously asked can be seen by other people too so you don’t need to ask again if someone had the same the same doubt previously. And in case of a new doubt posted they reply within one to two days.
For the actual exam, all the questions mostly had two to three chapters linked. Even a simple Bayes theorem question had data given in a jumbled manner that required you to understand the lingo used from different chapter to start the sum. So my advise is to read all the chapters, even the boxes and the footnotes used in the text book. The exam had question from the concepts given in those anecdotes too. However, you can be assured that no questions were there from out of the topics explained in the book.
I tried to share my over all FRM part one experience. I passed with 1st quartile in quant, FMP and risk module and with second quartile in VRM module. Best of luck for your preparation
