Perl (programming language) ... the first slogan "There is more than one way to do it", can be roughly translated as "syntactically, you can create a hot mess and it's still a valid way to do it".

It is almost impossible to read Perl code because for any given simple operation there is more than one way to do it. Give me Python any day of the week with its fascist whitespace rules. In the end they are a blessing in readability.
