“All of you listen to me, this girl is the worst student in this whole school.”

She shouted, pointing at me.

I stood shivering, trying to hide behind a tall boy. But I couldn’t. He was sitting.

I kept my head down.

“Why don’t you look at me? Ashamed of yourself? Why do you even live wasting your parents’ money?….” She went on.

Everybody present in that classroom was silent. Some were shocked, some were enjoying.

I don’t remember anything more. My eyes were blurry. All sounds were echoing. I thought I would collapse on to the ground.

After around 30 minutes, the bell rang. And she left. I got fever that day.

The reason? I had forgotten my science notebook at home, for two consecutive days.

I was ten or eleven then.

Yeah I made a mistake. But was it something big enough to get affected by the punishment words, even after 15 years? Pardon me, I don’t think so.

And did it help me in any way? No. I still misplace things very very frequently.

I don’t remember her name. I don’t even remember how she looked like. But I can still hear her voice echoing.

“This girl is the worst student in this whole school”.
