The hearsay of the Bible
Truth is that the Bible is hearsay.
At least to the ears of those who will not hear.
Mark 8:18 (KJV) - Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
Why is this the case?
2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) - In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Because of the delusional deceptions of the god they do serve (AKA Satan).
Thus we can conclude that if our desire is to follow the God of the universe then we will be diametrically different even in the process of thought than should we of our own free will choose to follow the god of this world.
We were living in South Lion, MI at the time. I had been serving for a period of 6 months as a contractor on a job that I enjoyed. The time had come for my boss to determine if I were to be brought on full-time or stay as a contractor.
What my boss was unaware of was the wrestling match I had been having with the Lord over the last several months. Having been called out of Washington I was now being called into Texas. A place I would never personally want to live.
Entering his office my boss presented me with the good news of being offered a full-time position at the company. How could he have known that I was about to turn his offer down. When I did he was shocked.
He queried as to why I would not be accepting the offer to which I explained that we were on our way to Texas.
Now he was doubly shocked and the dialog began.
Do you have family in Texas?
No.
Do you have a property in Texas?
No.
Do you have friends in Texas?
While I did have one of those, it was not the reason for moving there.
His next question was even harder for me to answer.
Do you have a job in Texas?
No. Not one of those either.
Then why are you moving to Texas?
Because the God I serve has called me there and I know not why.
In the eyes of the world what Christ Followers do can look like utter stupidity and foolishness.
Humanly speaking, they are right.
But within the eyes of God, the issue becomes another matter altogether.
This understanding can be found both within the New and Old Testaments.
Isaiah 44:18 (KJV) - They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
Who is he that is referred to here?
Some may rally to this being the God of the Universe but all they need do is read the verse prior to see the truth of it all.
Isaiah 44:17 (KJV) - And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
So yes, in the eyes of the god of this world the Bible is 100% hearsay but then it would do the reader well to consider:
John 8:44-45 (KJV) -
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
