I sold a brand new unopened Paco Rabanne Perfume Set on a best offer. I wrapped and posted it the same day, then the buyer sent me a message, saying she couldn’t afford it as she had gone overdrawn as she had paid me. She asked me to refund her and she would pay again the next day. I ignored her message as I’d already posted it.

A couple of days later, I get a message from the buyer , saying she is very unhappy as the perfume bottle had been opened and sprayed , and the cream has also been used. I disputed this straightaway, and said no way, it was sealed when I sent it to you.

I asked eBay for advice and they said it couldn’t be proved either way , who was telling the truth , and she was within her rights to return it as item not as described.

I was really angry and upset, I knew she was trying to scam me, and she wanted it for free or with a massive discount. I called her bluff, and said eBay said she could return it, by recorded delivery only at her expense, then I would inspect it thoroughly, before making a decision on refund.

I never heard from her again. She’s still got the perfume , she just wanted it for free.
