I have two favorite Latin Jazz bands, Tito Puente’s band, and Mongo Santamaria’s band. They both had top notch musicians and excellent arrangements, also, two of my favorite songs are “Watermelon Man” by Mongo Santamaria, and “Oye Como Va” by Tito Puente.

In 1971, singer Linda Ronstadt was looking for a backup band, enlisting studio musicians Don Henley and Glenn Fry, among others. This assemblage helped Ronstadt make her eponymous album, and then Henley and Fry formed The Eagles or simply, Eagles. Released in 1972, their first album included the hit singles “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” Desperado, their second release, soon followed with more hits, “Tequila Sunrise” and “Desperado.” Along the way, the band added guitarist Joe Walsh, who can rip on the guitar like the devil, evidence of which can be found

I’ve been a massive admirer of the brothers Ron and Russell Mael, better known as the band Sparks for nearly 50 years. These brothers are probably the least known and appreciated artists of stature with the masses of music listeners from California. However, they are highly regarded and appreciated by their fellow musicians, from Kurt Cobain to Morrissey, from Depeche Mode to Faith No More, Bjørk, Jimi Sommerville, Bernard Butler, Ian McCullogh, Thurston Moore, Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure. The list is endless.

Now, what makes those brothers so special and why are they operating so much just under the radar? The answer is quite simple; they do not follow any trends. Instead, they create trends, they invent new music, simply because they want to and they can. Since their very first (official) release in 1971 as Halfnelson, they have always been ahead of their time, creating music the way they felt was right and never compromising with the styles that were popular at a certain era.
They have released 23 official albums, which includes only one live album, a cooperation with Franz Ferdinand as FFS and a musical conducted for the Swedish Radio about Ingmar Bergman. They’ve been labelled as avant-garde, glam rock, disco, rock, cabaret, classical, minimalistic, theatrical and Ron Mael’s lyrics are regarded to be at the level of Leonard Cohen and Morrissey.
Example? “You mentioned Kant and I was shocked. You know, where I come from, none of the girls have such foul tongues” (from Hasta Mañana, Monsieur, 1974).
Despite their lack of massive success, they have always been able to survive by having just that one hit single or album in one place at the time. In 1974, they were huge in Britain and the European continent but were soon forgotten again, a year and a half later. From that time on, they have always been temporarily popular, somewhere, sometime. Their two most recent albums “Hippopotamus” (2017) and “A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip “ (2020) actually both reached #7 in the British album charts, last year, the first time they had a top 10 album in the UK again since 1975.
Last year, two movies in which they play a central role were released. Edgar Wright made the wonderful documentary The Sparks Brothers, which has a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and French director Leos Carax made the movie Annette, written by the Mael brothers. Both projects resulted in a huge increase of their fan base.
For those of you who have no idea about Sparks but have become intrigued, you might be interested in the most complete website about them that I run: FanMael.
I’d say that this qualifies:

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance
You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.
Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.
If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.
Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.
2. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven
A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.
If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.
On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.
3. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10
Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.
An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.
With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.
Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.
So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.
This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.

Totally worth it.
5. Get Up to $300 Just for Setting Up Direct Deposit With This Account
If you bank at a traditional brick-and-mortar bank, your money probably isn’t growing much (c’mon, 0.40% is basically nothing).
But there’s good news: With SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC), you stand to gain up to a hefty 3.80% APY on savings when you set up a direct deposit or have $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits and 0.50% APY on checking balances — savings APY is 10 times more than the national average.
Right now, a direct deposit of at least $1K not only sets you up for higher returns but also brings you closer to earning up to a $300 welcome bonus (terms apply).
You can easily deposit checks via your phone’s camera, transfer funds, and get customer service via chat or phone call. There are no account fees, no monthly fees and no overdraft fees. And your money is FDIC insured (up to $3M of additional FDIC insurance through the SoFi Insured Deposit Program).
It’s quick and easy to open an account with SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC) and watch your money grow faster than ever.

the problem is all the bands I just mentioned have very different sounds there is no unified sound for Spanish speaking countries because they are bands that just stock around, today drill and hiphop are way more popular than rock it seems we are at a low point for rock and all the hiphop producces is garbage so hopefully we will have a new sound in the coming years.

- Slightly Stoopid: I'm terrible at describing bands and music, but Slightly Stoopid is legendary in the California reggae/music scene, if you're asking a question about california reggae, i'm sure you are already familiar with Slightly Stoopid.
- The Aggrolites: If you like upbeat reggae music with some dirt nasty organ in it this is your band. I love The Aggrolites, their music is so funky and gritty with an old school sound. I'm blown away at how great a band they are every time I listen to them.
- Arise Roots

I’m sorry, don’t know any Latino music groups. I don’t speak Spanish, would love to, hopefully I’ll meet a beautiful Hispanic woman who could teach me. 😇

There was a band way back then called Baron Rojo. They were a Hard Rock band who made made some Awesome albums in the 1970’s. Loved that band. I had their vinyl albums in my collection.

Los Angeles has become the hub of music recently. Musicians from all over the world try their career thereby creating a band themselves or being a part of some popular bands. To name a few bands that are best at what they do, Flash Pants tops the list. It is one of the most renowned bands that I have ever come across. I have seen several bands from Los Angeles but there is no one like them. You should definitely give them a try.
What are some good songs/bands that are California-centric?
(1) "Still in Hollywood" by Concrete Blonde
(2) “Too Bad About Your Girl” by The Donnas
From the 1980's, Night Ranger. One of their best songs from that era was "Sentimental Street", which, according to singer Jack Blades, he wrote about San Francisco.
Recently, they released an album and a song called "Growing Up in Califormia".
They do have a sunny vibe in their music.
Probably the most affordable music schools would be any of the state colleges. I received an awesome music education from Cal State Fullerton. I think Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Northridge have good music schools. If you have a state college near you, go and check them out. Some of the community colleges also have good music schools. It might be an even better idea to pick up an associates degree from a community college and then transfer to a state university.
No contest. America’s Band. The Beach Boys.
There are, although the ones I know of seem to be kind of ad hoc. In 2007, there was a CD called Est hora, which contains Finnish rock and tango music in Latin, but I think there was no established band behind it, but it was rather the project of some junior college (in Finnish lukio) where they study Latin.
