The best way to cook French Fries is with a deep fat fryer. If you have a commercial fryer, then just set it to 350 degrees F, fill the baskets about half way with fries, slowly lower them into the hot grease and let them cook. It takes about 6 to 8 minutes for them to get nice and crispy. Allow them to drain, put them into a bowl and toss them with salt. Now enjoy your tasty fries!

If you don’t have a fryer, then you need a heavy pot and a fryer thermometer. Fill the pot about 2/3 of the way with oil and clip the thermometer onto the edge of the pot. Don't let it touch the bottom of the pot, it will throw off your reading. When the oil reaches 350 degrees F, add your fries. If you have a basket that fits into the pot, use it. If you don't then get yourself a skimmer before you start. A skimmer will make removing the free floating fries easier than any other method.

That’s a skimmer, you can find them at any restaurant supply place. They’re cheap and it should last about forever.
