This was last year in the month of March 2016.
Was in office, doing my routine work. I got a call from HR head, asking me to come over to her cabin for some discussion. Went there and saw my HOD sitting too.
I didn't bother much as i thought it must be some regular work related discussion.
And the conversation started like this :
HOD - you must be thinking why have we called you here.
Me - (wondering) ummm, ya whats the matter?
HR head - We don't know how to say this but we are really sorry to disclose this that you are being laid off from this company. No performance issues but since we are undergoing layoff all over the branches, we had to make some tough decisions.
We are really sorry for this.
Me - Speechless totally !!!! (Had no other job in hand, various scenarios started mugging up in my mind - What will i tell my parents?, when will i get a new job? , what if i don't get a job? etc etc)
Was asked to resign then and there itself and was relieved from the position that day itself.
It was the hardest truth for me to accept that day and for the coming months. Cried, cried and cried. Fought back, gave interviews, cleared some.
Now, working in one of the top MNC :)
Sometimes, bad things turn out in your favor :)
