Excellent answers already. I'll try to add just a little. I've been at Microsoft now for 10 years. This is my second time at Microsoft. I've interviewed at Amazon, Google, Starbucks, and a long list of other companies. I've been turned down by them all. I was turned down by four Microsoft teams before I hit on the position that hired me. Once inside the company, I've tried to move to other teams and been rejected sometimes, and accepted others.

So first thing:
DO NOT LOSE HOPE.

I've been part of many "interview loops" at Microsoft. Sometimes, I've voted "yes" and other times, I've voted "no".

MOST OF THE TIME, it's a question of "fit." If you had poor credentials, you would not have made it into the loop. If you had poor experience, you would not have made it into the loop.

"Fit" is a function of the way the team works today, not on paper, but in real life. It is a reflection of people that you will be working with (most of whom you did not meet).
It is not a reflection on you.

So keep applying, even if it is for the same team, even if it is for the same role in a different team, even if it is for totally different roles... KEEP APPLYING.

And don't stop at Microsoft and Amazon. If you are interviewing in India, and it appears you are, consider jobs at the large consulting agencies. They are a great way to get going and get experience. That experience will qualify you for additional jobs, and you can try again at the "big players" in a year or two.
