A few years ago, our boundary wall with our neighbour had to be repaired. We knew our neighbour was in financial difficulties, so we got a quote and we paid for the repair. When the repair people arrived the neighbour asked “what is this going to cost?” and we said “Don’t worry about it.” About a year later our neighbour came to us and said he wanted to pay half for the wall. He had landed a big contract and was honest enough to tell us and to pay his share of the wall.
