You can easily earn all the Swagbucks you want, but in the end, it’ll amount to nothing, especially if you live in India. Here’s why:
- Swagbucks allows you to redeem the SB’s only if you verify your address.
- To verify your address, they’ll send you an actual postcard to your address with a PIN number printed on it. It takes days, weeks, sometime even months for the card to arrive!
- You’ll then enter this PIN number in the Swagbucks website, finally unlocking access to your reward (usually a Gift Card code to redeem stuff)
Sounds easy, right? Well, easy only for those who live in US.
It is because Swagbucks doesn’t support address verification for any other country except USA. It’s true that they have now added some form of “support”, or whatever that means, for 5–6 other countries including India. But address verification, which is critical for redeeming SB’s, is applicable only for US residents.
In the above screenshot, the country “USA” is not editable. Whatever you try, the country is always USA. You can clearly see that it is also compulsory to select a “USA State” from the list, failing to do which your address data remains incomplete, like mine is.
Incomplete address means no verification, no PIN, no reward claim. I have nearly 500 SB which I wanted to redeem for a $5 Steam Gift card, but due to the address being locked only to the US, I cannot verify my Indian address. Hence I can never receive the verification PIN. So my 500 SB is basically worthless like the old 500 and 1000 Rupees notes.
TL;DR: You can earn Swagbucks, but you cannot redeem them in India.
On a side note, if you have someone like relatives, friends etc. living in the US, then you can use their address to bypass this thing.
