My parents mostly lied by omission. They were never honest and open with us. My dad had a surgery when I was a teenager - to this day I don’t have a clue what it was. My parents lied about their age when they got married, which would mean that their marriage was never legal. No one ever mentioned that. I didn’t learn that my mom’s parents were never married until I was grown and married myself.
Which leads me to believe that I really know anything about my family. The funny thing is my mom was adamant that us kids never believe in Santa Claus. Her excuse? “I didn’t want to lie to you”, I think the real reason she didn’t is that she didn’t want to have to put in any extra effort to convince us.
Gotta love your parents…..NOT!
