I lived with my mother in law for a short time. She would come in our bedroom gather up our laundry, wash and dry it, then iron and hang my husbands clothes. Mine would come back in the room in a basket. Wrinkled and not wearable. I got sent home from work one time due to my clothes not looking right.

We had one argument in all the years I got to have her. And it was because I was pissed off that my clean clothes were wrinkled beyond being wearable. I could have gone and got a washcloth wet and tossed an outfit in the dryer with it then turned it on timed dry/low or medium low for a few minutes to steam the wrinkles out.

She died a few years ago and I miss her every day.

She was a good woman at the heart of it and I should have tried to get along with her a bit harder.

As for people who have a mother in law living with them and they’re in hell, I can’t tell you that you should love them and take it. You shouldn’t have to. But your husband shouldn’t get caught in the middle either. He needs to tell you to straighten up and that you’re wrong, if you are in the wrong, and he needs to say the same thing to his mother if she’s in the wrong.
