A lot of cars’ clean front lines are broken by the addition of the factory license plate mount. Particularly sporty cars.

Since some states only have rear plates, many cars come with the front mount “to be installed” by the dealer.

Some people don’t like to put the front plates on because of the way it looks and often are simply not stopped ever for lack of them. If you are caught, you can have the plate in your possession or perhaps propped on the front dashboard as some do and try and talk you way out of, or just pay the relatively low fine. And then just keep driving without it. A 50 or 200 dollar fine is nothing when the owner has spent $50,000 on a car and an additional $2000 in custom wheels to improve the look of his ride.
