Why people care about such superficial things has always baffled me.

Well now, that depends. Are we talking about my physical age? Or how about my intellectual age? I usually dress for my emotional age, to be honest. Ever seen a 58 year old in pink pigtails? Well I like it anyway. It makes me feel good. Now there’s an idea; we should wear what makes us feel good.
I’ve been told all my life that I should dress a certain way because of my size, and now I have to calculate age restrictions, too!? It’s too much people! I’m not going to burden myself with trying to meet every one else’s idea of how I should dress. I like comfortable clothes. That’s pretty much it. If

If I happen find mini-skirts comfortable on a hot summer day, then that must be what’s appropriate for me to wear at this age. Even if I do have spider veins. If I enjoy dying my hair purple or teal then, purple and teal hair must be appropriate for me at this age. (It really is, by the way. It’s so freeing to just do what you want without caring what others may think. And hair’s so temporary, too. It’ll always grow out eventually.)

Who sets the rules for dress-appropriate ages? Isn’t it quite simply a matter of “personal taste”? People of all ages fail to dress appropriately in the eyes of others who may clap eyes on them.
We see worldwide people on TV; some are gorgeous, others ordinary, and yet others seem to lack any sense of modesty — or even a sense that they bothered to comb their hair before going to work. None of them offend me; I’m entertained and probably entertain others - myself.
At 90, I’m still vain enough to never leave the house without makeup - which better defines my features. It’s simply a personal code.

There is no right or wrong answer, this is one of those things everyone will have their own opinion.
But over the years i have observed many instances how others perceive people who don’t dress for their age according to what society deems appropriate.
Unfortunately many people won’t take you seriously or laugh at them behind their back.
I remember a lady around 70 whom I used to see at the train station regularly always rocking up with high stiletto heels, mini skirt and crop top. People would stare at her, giggle, make fun of her etc she didn’t seem to give a damn.

So this answer is more important perhaps in the workplace, especially corporate and government. What you wear will reflect on who you are to an extent and possibly impact on how your colleagues/clients will perceive you regardless of your work ethic and performance.
It’s right down to personal choice. I love fashion, it has come a long way in style for older people. The fashion for my age group 35–45 range is totally different to what it was for my mother at this age. Do I want to wear what i did at 15 or 20? No…. i don’t want to dress what my grandma wore at 85 either. But i like to evolve and grow. I’m a teacher and I want to be taken seriously in my workplace but i don’t want to loose my individuality in dress either.
There is a balance we must all figure out with fashion as we progress into different age groups. For me i evolve, i change, i embrace new, i leave what no longer suits me, i don’t hold onto what suited me as a teenager but not so much now.

Tonight I am an investment and that is what the question misses I think. Women are a book to be opened and what is seen is planned. There should be some space here soon that is called What Does This Mean?
I am not verbose. I tend to wear my feelings although the pjs are my any age this minute 🪁 Disclaimer: I write in bold text for medical reasons, Optic Neuritis/Multiple Sclerosis. Comments, if negative, best left unsaid...

Where do I start?
I’m a huge financial nerd, and have spent an embarrassing amount of time talking to people about their money habits.
Here are the biggest mistakes people are making and how to fix them:
Not having a separate high interest savings account
Having a separate account allows you to see the results of all your hard work and keep your money separate so you're less tempted to spend it.
Plus with rates above 5.00%, the interest you can earn compared to most banks really adds up.

Overpaying on car insurance
You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.
If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:
Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.
It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.
Missing out on free money to invest
It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.
Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.
Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

I think we should dress in the clothes that make us feel good; that express who we are or how we feel; in clothes that we like, get excited about, and feel comfortable in; we should dress in clothes that we believe suit us the most, regardless of our age.
Well I believe that depends on the individual and how they look appearance wise at their particular age.
You might have a person who is 70 or older like say Jane Fonda and she can wear anything she darn well pleases and looks great in it.
But you might take someone who is 40 and looks 20 years older than their actual age and they would look rediculous trying to wear something a 30 year old would wear.
I believe that anybody male or female or whatever should wear whatever it is that makes them feel comfortable and good about themselves.

I for one am 65 and I feel like I wear some youthful things but not too outlandish.
I had a boy who works for me send me a picture one day of a guy around 55–60 who was wearing the typical denim shorts with white new balance shoes and white socks. His text says this will be you.
That will never be me!
I am 56 years old, and all of my life I have worn Levi, a T-shirt, and tennis shoes.
I will keep wearing the same thing until the day that I die.
Whoever doesn't like my style doesn't have to look at me.
Who is to say this is not dressing my age?
The bottom line is that I live in a democracy. We have the freedom to dress as we please.
Live and let live.
If you feel the need to take this freedom away move to North Korea.
Wow, I don’t ever think I’ve seen an age on clothing? So how would this even happen? Also many people of the same age, don’t physically look the same age or act the same age. There will also be some people more physically active than others in which they may wear clothing that may not be considered in their “age bracket” but it’s actually what the clothing was made for. I’ve never seen a clothing catalog list actual age brackets. I seriously hope that I never do. I think that people should continue to have the freedom to dress how they feel best suits them and their own personality and style.
Oh absolutely! People should “dress for their age". As in “whatever the fuck they want” for their age.

Written by Kallie Provencher for RantNOW - Your one stop shop for all the Rant, Inc. digital properties. From RantLifestyle and RantPets to RantHollywood and RantSports, RantNOW gives you every trending and entertaining topic you’ll need no matter where you are., this “article” (I use the term loosely) highlighted things such as “leopard print”, “graphic tees”, and “short dresses” (because “By this age, women should know it’s always better to leave something to the imagination”). Kallie, it seems, has a number of opinions on what women over 30 should and shouldn’t be doing, having also penned “30 Things Women Over 30 Shouldn’t Own” and “20 Pictures Women Over 30 Need To Stop Posting Online”. (What is this magical post-30 land where women are suddenly not allowed to do or own so many things?!)
Motivated by Kallie’s “article”, I decided to churn up one of my own! I bring you now:

Women in today’s world are hit from all sides. Do this. Wear that. Don’t do this. Don’t do that. Speak softly. Smile. Agree, agree, agree. Assimilate. Shut up. Stay down.
The last thing we need is other women telling us what we should and shouldn’t do. Stand up, ladies, and stand together. Don’t be like Kallie Provencher. (Especially don’t be like her.) Wear what you want, do what you want, and support one another! And like all of these fabulous ladies, don’t give a fuck.
24 Things Women Over 30 Should Wear
Yes, I copy the entire fucking article because that's what I believe.
Sure, you should dress for the occasion and context. If the event calls for formal attire, you shouldn't attend with tank tops and shorts. But age shouldn't be a consideration. An adult person should wear whatever the fuck they want for their age. That goes to men and women.
I believe that people should dress as they want to, and take the flack if others think they look absurd. I was driving a lorry on the great North Road in London many years ago, on a hot day, and an open sports car pulled up next to me at traffic lights. I looked down on this woman who sat there in her tiny mini skirt and piled high, long blonde hair and then she turned her head to look up at me, and I almost sceamed with horror as I saw this wizzened old face plastered in thick make-up and she must have been in her 70`sor 80`s and trying to look about 20 years old. ——Mind you, this was long be

Its something I have never forgotten and now in MY 70`s would never dream of trying to look what I am not. But some oldies just won`t allow thremselves to grow old and do often make themselves look silly by the way they dress. JMO.
Hell no! Dress in an appropriate manner that makes you look good
I would prefer that people would dress according to their sense of style, not age. Style is personal, a reflection of one's taste and creativity. Age is a factor, of course. Some people's style changes to accommodate comfort and ease (which is fine, of course). But, if you got the goods, make the most of it! Don't let age dictate what you can or cannot wear.
I think you should dress in whatever makes you feel good and is appropriate for the occasion. That includes how you want to wear your hair.
I wear whatever I like and what looks good on me. My age doesn’t have anything to do with it.
Is that person or people your child and under 14? Then yes, I believe that you have something to say about their sartorial choices.
Otherwise, piss off.
I think to a point, I believe we should wear whatever we want, what makes us feel good about ourselves and our bodies. I also think we should dress so others respect us and our choice in clothing, depending on the occasion and circumstances we find ourselves in. Also it show that we respect ourselves and as a consideration, our age as well.

Sex sells in our society today, whether we want to admit it or not. It's used as a form of power to get what we want from others. This isn't anything new, it's been going on since the first Homo Sapiens walked the earth. Clothing and fashion, in particular woman's clothing has become a way to express this. Not only to a potential mate but also to deter other woman from becoming competition. I attended a high school that required a uniform, we all wore the exact same skirt yet amazingly it could be worn from the standard 1″ below finger tips to just below ones butt cheeks. Was that to impress boys? To a point but more so to send a message to other girls as well “ You can't compete with this".
Our choice in what we wear sends a sexual statement to everyone who sees us. Whether it be a midriff exposing Bandeau top and micro Mini or grey sweat pants and a hoody, it's a message. There are times when the message can become over sexualised as well as certain ages. While anyone can wear the bandeau/mini outfit it is seen more acceptable and expected from 25 year old. On someone much older it sends a message that they are insecure and using their body to compensate. The same can be said when it's worn by a 12 year old, it's oversexualization and sends the wrong message and a child is to young to understand this or deal with the consequences.

Before I answer, show me this list of “appropriate dressing for your age", and the names of the developers of said list.
Then, explain to me in plain language why I should let complete strangers dictate how I should dress at any particular age. For all I know, they may be making “authoritative” statements based on how their own bodies look in certain styles. How biased is that?! Or perhaps they're working with clothing designers in order for designers to develop shaming tools for those who shun their clothing lines.

There is no such rule to dress according to age.
You should wear something which makes you feel confident and comfortable.
The most important point is the “Feel good factor”.
If you feel good then you will look good, simple.
Dressing appropriately to one’s age only makes sense if your objective is to let other people choose your own clothes for you.
But how much fun is normal? I mean, it’s kind of bland…
So how about this: one good thing about being an old man is that you get to be a crazy old man.
And of course that works for old women, too.
But why wait until you’re old?
I believe in living a life that compliments you and makes you feel happy.
Such a thing as an "age appropriate" style of clothing just doesn’t exist.
Insecure people will hate you regardless of what you do.
So why not just live and be happy?
If you love it and it makes you feel good, go for it, no questions asked.
There’s no such thing as dressing your age, so just dress like yourself.
No.
Anyone can dress exactly how they like at any age.
Age and clothing are not related.
I don’t believe in any such notion. A person should dress in anything that makes them feel confident, that makes them feel more ‘them’. Age is merely a number, and has no relation with ideals of dressing, whatsoever. However, many older women prefer dressing in less brighter shades, and that’s okay. It is, at the end of the day, about comfort and confidence. In my own small city of Lucknow, I’ve seen the most beautiful Benarasi drapes on older women. Life’s too short to adhere to norms of fashion. And when it comes to fashion, the norms are only your own.
No. Who knows what ‘age’ will mean for any individual? I believe people should dress in what flatters them, regardless of their chronology. A good pair of well fitting jeans will flatter anyone, from 12 years old to 92. A classic white linen shirt as well. I believe body type, comfort (NOBODY is comfortable in four-inch stiletto heels) and personal sense of style should take precedence over age when it comes to selecting one’s wardrobe. I personally at 71 wear pretty much what I wore in University 50 years ago, with a few exceptions. I don’t wear shorts anymore, or anything too trendy that loo

I personally at 71 wear pretty much what I wore in University 50 years ago, with a few exceptions. I don’t wear shorts anymore, or anything too trendy that looks like it belongs at the disco. You DO have to choose well-tailored and more expensive clothing, but fortunately fewer pieces of it, once you get past 50.. because your body shape changes and cheap clothing is made for younger bodies. Choosing flattering clothing isn’t just a challenge for us oldsters; I see many young people wearing things they really ought to have considered more carefully. But to each his or her or their own. There aren’t any fashion police. If it makes you feel good, wear it.
I care less and less for that concept every year.
I plan to tear up the retirement home, just sayin'.
People should do what makes them happy. I don’t think the people that make clothes really care about the older population.
It means the imposition of someone else’s values on what is right or wrong about someone’s dress sense. Within the communities boundaries of what is decent, what you wear is up to you. People being what they are, some will judge, no matter what. Lots of people think “Miss 5” is cute in granny’s old heels and summer frock, why can’t “granny” be cute in “Miss 5”,s bikini?
Nope. The “fashion police” aren't real, and honestly? If you bought the clothes, you should be allowed to wear them. Even speedos and whatnot. I mean…if people can wear capris, then we should be allowed to wear anything. Your body, your choice. Hell, I wear white after labor day all the time. Or is it memorial day? One of those.
There’s a certain contingent of people in the world who equate maturity with appearing more conservative in your dress sense. I’ve seen a multitude of articles, predominantly aimed at women, telling them that after 30 they should no longer wear skirts, crop tops, hoop earrings, colorful patterns, etc. And it all seems completely arbitrary. Like after a certain age it’s inappropriate for clothing to be fun. To these people maturity equals boring. Fuck these people.
Why should we dress according to our age?
Who says we should?
You be you.
As a general rule, dress your age. That said, if you like an outfit or a particular style, put it on in front of a mirror. Now be honest with yourself: do you like the way you look and do you feel confident? That’s what matters. If the answer is yes, then go for it. Rules are guidelines, but don’t get too hung up on them and forget to enjoy your life.
I think dressing according to your body type is more important than dressing appropriately for your age. The better approach would be viewing your age as a opportunity rather than looking at it as a limitation.
A composed and balanced look that is modern and accentuates your best features gives you a sophisticated feel.
Our tastes evolve with time and we don't like same things we used to like in our younger years.
This is just an ageist and sexist perspective. Double standards which are extremely harmful. People put such value on telling women how important they're looks are until a certain age and then demand them to cover them up past that age (essentially telling them, now, they're ugly and better do as they're told- only the opposite of what they were told early in their lives)- like we are only there for their convenience: you want to look at me while “young": I can't cover up. Now you don't want to look at me: fine, I guess I'd better accommodate that 180 degree shift now! I'm 43, think I'm hot as

Somebody doesn't like my years all of a sudden- they can go suck a d*! I'm here for nobody's convenience and people can jump through their own hoops. Quit thinking it's your legacy to twist women in these ageist/sexist fashion contortions and that they need to just say yes sir, may I have another ( giant heaping of your bulls!!!)?
Should people dress accordingly to their age?
What is “age appropriate” dress? And who decides this?
People should dress as they want to dress. The Fashion Police don’t exist.
Not sure, it may depend on mood.Usually wear clothes that are similar to your age.
But when I'm in a good mood and go out to a party, I tend to look younger, put on youthful makeup, and wear fashionable clothes.

I don’t think age is a factor! I think it should be based on your physique & your physical condition ! Most people tend to be honest with there thoughts. & then again some people don’t care what other people think.
I don't think so . You are independent to wear any colour any dress whenever you want in any age…
It's your life . All colours are beautiful. Even God didn't said not to wear this in this age then how people dare to. Don't worry about then . Barking dog just need someone to bark on
