Back in high school I did my best to be the top in academics. Born premature, and growing up in a poor household I never had the chance to be an athletic star or famed pianist. However I was really hard working and determined to get noticed through my efforts and even get into a good college. Other kids in our school on the other hand could easily pass the exams just by borrowing notes or asking the teacher to improve their grade. Which for me was really unfair, I dedicated everything, did every homework, read all the books in the library, questioned the teachers constantly, and yet, they gave the same score to other students simply because they didn’t care a damn.

Instead they simply praised the good looking, athletic jocks and pianists ( who of course, thanks to their parents could afford such things ).

This essentially broke me, I stopped doing any homework, never respected the teachers again and in more than one time gave them a middle finger. While most of my class was worrying about the college entrance exam I simply lied in back of the class, read books or just slept. Funny thing Is that I graduated with the same score as the other kids and even easily got into one of the top colleges in the country.

But the whole experience had changed me as a person for good, I realized that in real life hard work doesn’t mean shit. It’s better to shine than work
