Absolutely! I had a friend named Scott who I grew up with. We used to socialize in the same group of people when we were growing up so I saw him often. Occasionally I would go over to his house and hang out. As our lives diverged in High School, we lost touch. Fast forward thirty years later. I live 1400 miles away from where I grew up. Scott connects with me on Facebook (one great way of reconnecting with people from your past) and informed me he is moving to my area as he took a job at a company two miles away from where I live. We chatted on Facebook and on the phone, and arranged to meet up once he made the adventurous trip of moving cross country. When he arrived, his corporate housing fell through. I offered to put him up, not knowing what thirty years could do to our old relationship. He drove over with his brother and my husband and I opened our home. We picked up right where we left off as if nothing had changed. We took a picture to commemorate the moment. Today, we chat several times a week and get together once every other week for dinner and catch up. We chat about old times and what has happened to everyone that we grew up with. It’s a small world!
