Although many people would be happy just from being told “I love you” by their parents, it was receiving the small gestures that showed my mother truly does love me. For example, she’s willing to let me dress the way I want in public because she knows it’s what makes me comfortable and it’s an outlet I use to express myself, and I appreciate that, even if certain things I wear she may not like, she knows I’m exploring new horizons in style.

Or, for instance, letting me play with makeup and whatnot. Her mom restricted her from using makeup, but she knows I enjoy it so she lets me use it.

I’m sure there are countless other examples, but hopefully, everyone gets my gist. I don’t need a big gesture from my mom to know that she loves me.
