It was a mild summer day in Duluth, Minnesota. There I was, in the most beautiful dress I had ever owned, my father beside me. Everything was absolutely perfect.

I took a deep breath as I heard the 1st strains of “Here Comes the Bride.” I had just taken my 1st step onto the runner going down the center aisle, when I heard the dulcet tones of a chain saw immediately outside the open church window.

Apparently, a neighbor to the church was making good use of the short summer days to stock firewood for the long cold winters. The sound continued the entire way as I proceeded down the aisle and by the time I reached my waiting groom, everyone in the church was laughing hysterically, including me.

Fortunately, a good hearted soul ran next door and asked the man to please refrain from sawing firewood (at least for the next 30 minutes).

It definitely falls into the category of “something going wrong at my wedding,” but it is a funny story I will always remember.
