Jesus and God
Great question.
Or what about this verse.
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - For there is one God, …
I’m not the best at math but normally I can count to the number one. Three is a bit more challenging.
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - For there is one God, and one mediator…
Help me here, my math skills are becoming challenged.
What does 1+1=
But certainly, it can be the same one, right?
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - For there is one God, and one mediator between…
If I have two pieces of bread, a knife, and some peanut butter; where do I put the spread? If I put it on the wrong side of either piece of bread my little snack is going to become more than a little messy. That’s why it must be between. Between what? Between the two pieces of bread.
Let’s extrapolate forward here.
- Piece of bread #1 is symbolic for God the Father.
- Piece of bread #2 is symbolic for [well, so far we do not know]
- Peanut butter is symbolic for the mediator whomever that might be.
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men…
Oh, now we know what the other piece of bread is symbolic for.
Them.
Them who?
The saved.
The elect.
Which would be us?
Us = me.
Us = you.
Us = you and me.
Or would that be me and you?
I think you get the point.
But what about the peanut butter?
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man…
What man?
Wasn’t all of humanity just identified as the other piece of bread?
How is it possible that we are also peanut butter?
And then there is the difference between the word men and man.
Men is all conclusive.
Man has a targeted singularity.
Fortunately, this verse does not leave us in the dark and without peanut butter.
1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
We now have completed our peanut butter sandwich analogy.
I know, there are other ingredients missing for this to be a delicious sandwich.
Such is not the case for being able to comprehend this verse.
- Piece of bread #1 = The Father God.
- Piece of bread #2 = Humanity
- Peanut butter = The Son of God
Now let’s suppose that Jesus, the Son of God was the peanut butter and the piece of bread. Not only would your sandwich start to quickly fall apart but it would get extremely messy too.
Fortunately such is not the case.
Not the case for your sandwich.
Not the case for understanding salvation.
Not the case - period.
Thank God, the Son of God, is such an amazing mediator between God and man.
Perhaps that is why Scripture says.
John 3:16 (KJV) - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
