Did the Christian God drown the entire world in a massive flood?
Why do people think this is true?
Besides the fact that Christian Pastors preach this falsely from the podiums of our land today it would be a misunderstanding of this verse:
Genesis 6:7 (KJV) - And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
Seems pretty straightforward to me upon the first read which is why the thinking soul truly needs to dig in further on this one than just this verse.
First, along with this concept of a vengeful God concept, we find this in the very next verse:
Genesis 6:8 (KJV) - But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Which is it?
Is God a wrathful tyrant waiting and wanting to wipe out humanity or an entity that bestows grace?
Further, why was Noah the only one to find grace, if such were the case?
One has only to consider Methuselah to understand this cannot be entirely right. So there must be another answer to this puzzle that will not be unfolded within this response.
What will be unfolded is an understanding of why Noah appears to be the only one to have found grace.
Genesis 6:5 (KJV) - And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Please notice where the thoughts of man are focused.
3 John 11 (KJVJ) - Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
There are two camps.
Evil.
John 8:44 (KJV) - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Good.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
If it is God that wiped out humanity then how could the above verse be true at any level?
However, as humanity embraces evil just as the above verse suggests then there is a chain of events that begin to take place.
Here is the clear counsel.
Romans 12:9 (KJV) - Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
This was not taking place in the pre-flood world in which Noah lived.
2 Peter 2:20 (KJV) - For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
Noah was doing everything in his power not to escape but rather to embrace the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while the rest of the world was bent on doing their own thing while pushing the God of the universe out of their lives.
As they pushed Him away another came in to wreak chaos, confusion, and destruction.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
As long as the protective hand of God or His Son is upon the human there is safety and security.
Psalm 46:1 (KJV) - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
But as we choose to let go true evil enters in just as was the case from the very beginning of humanity.
Genesis 3:6 (KJV) - And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Even to this day wherein we are found pushing God and His Son out of our lives while by necessity welcoming another in simultaneously.
I’ve heard people ask why a loving God would cause such things as what is taking place today to happen.
Truth is, He doesn’t.
He didn’t in the time of Noah with the flood.
He doesn’t in our day today with all the trouble that we see around us.
Not only would that be an absolute contradiction to His character, but it is indeed an impossibility based on His own commands.
Exodus 20:13 (KJV) - Thou shalt not kill.
Which neither He nor His Son can violate.
Matthew 5:21 (KJV) - Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
We can.
We do.
Matthew 5:22 (KJV) - But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Just as Satan can.
And does.
From the very beginning:
Genesis 3:4
(KJV) - And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
To the very end.
Ezekiel 28:18 (KJV) - Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Please note the words “will I” and “I will” which again takes the ultimate responsibility though it is clear where the focal point is truly at.
Ezekiel 28:15 (KJV) - Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
It was the choices that Lucifer made that transformed his own perfectness into evil. God did not create evil any more than He punished it.
Many people want to suggest that God cast Lucifer out of Heaven based on the following verses even though there is nothing within the verses that suggests such to be the case.
Revelation 12:7-12 (KJV) -
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Lucifer chose to leave casting his own eyes to the earth.
Choices have consequences.
This was true for Adam and Eve as they choose to disobey.
This was true for those that died in the flood which they themselves brought onto the earth.
And this is true for the world today as we ourselves turn away from the Godhead and toward self-fulfilled gratification just as the Bible has clearly said would be the end result.
Matthew 24:37-39 (KJV) -
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
My guess is that you have not heard it unfolded this way previously. It clearly shows where evil comes from as well as righteousness.
Now that you know the truth you have a choice.
Embrace the heart of the one that truly brought death and destruction upon humanity.
Satan.
Or, get to know the true character of God which leads to an amazing transformation of love, life, and liberty.
John 3:16-20 (KJV) -
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
May you choose wisely.
I’ll be here should you have any additional questions.
