Yeah, it's like a Mexican band, but it's not a name of a particular band, all those kind of Mexican bands are called Marachi.

The Mariachi was a version of Spanish theatrical orchestra containing violins, guitars, and a harp. Groups were small and not generally known outside of the region from which they came. The musical form and ensemble of the Mariachi developed differently from region to region.

I must confess that I am no expert on this type of music. However, there are three songs that EVERYONE in Latin America knows : 
 
1. Pero Sigo Siendo el Rey
2. Mujeres Divinas
3. Volver Volver Volver
 
These are classic songs, that pop up in any party, and everyone will start singing in unison, especially after a couple of bottles have been emptied. One of the latest Mariachi heroes is Vicente Fernandez (I think he recently retired or is about to retire), and his versions are very good. I do know, however, that there are also some classic singers like Javier Solís and Pedro Infante who put out a lot of mariachi music.

As trumpet player, the band I played in consisted of 3 guitarists/vocalists and me. On some gigs we used 2 trumpet players. It’s not uncommon to have a violinist as well. I don’t think there’s a standard instrumentation.

Tito & the Tarantula were all Chicano… at least at first. I don’t know about now. Their singer was born in Mexico. Is that good enough?

There’s also Loli & the Chones. Again, I don’t know if they were all Mexican-American. I don’t generally pay attention to those things.

There was a cool band in the 60’s named Thee Midnighters. I believe they are generally known as one of the first all-Chicano rock bands. They never got big, though.

But you’re really tying my hands here if you expect all the members to be Mexican-Americans. I know Evo O and Rick Agnew of Christian death fit… Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction… maybe (?) the singer for Ministry. Probably some members of Suicidal Tendencies and The Makers. The drummer from Oingo Boingo. But I can’t really say I know for sure many bands that were entirely Mexican-American.
