YES. Group-1 officers [The State Services officer ] can become CONFERRED IAS OFFICERS.

Conferred IAS or Promotee IAS are selected from the State Administrative Service officers i.e Group-1 officers belongs to i.e Revenue and non-Revenue such as

  • Deputy Collectors/Revenue Divisional officers
  • Commercial Tax officers
  • District Registrar
  • District Co-operative Societies /etc.

The conferred IAS officers will be selected by the SELECTION COMMITTEE headed by the UPSC Chairman or its member based on the certain eligibility criteria from the seniority list prepared by the concerned State Government every year . The conferred IAS officers will be issued Batch year by UPSC as like Direct Recruitee IAS.

The overall conferred IAS cadre strength of the state shall not exceed 33% of total IAS strength.

Their Career path goes like Joint Collector -Collector/DM-Secretary/ Principal Secretary.

The persons who are selected as Dy.Collector at the age of 21–24 , they can become conferred IAS after 10–12 years and they can reach upto Principal Secretary Cadre in the state.
