What exactly is this Heavy Censorship??

These are typical propaganda words used by the US during the Cold war to illustrate how Bad the USSR was and how good the Democratic world was.

There was even a Joke to illustrate how an American says you could shot “Screw Ronald Reagan” outside the White house and a Russian says I can also shout “Screw Ronald Reagan” outside the Kremlin.

Lets see FREE SPEECH

In most democracies you have - Sedition, Official Secrets Act, 30 Year Rule, Military Personnel Non Disclosure Federal Act, Federal Communications Disclosure Violations and over 20 such acts which punish what could be nothing more than “Free Speech”

A Simple White House Press Secretary could be investigated and charged with Violation of the FCA or OSA if they revealed the details of a simple meeting in a book

A Former Official in Britain requires a Clearance to publish books or memoirs from the Government

A Kid of 16 years spent 110 days in Jail with Prostitutes & Thieves getting bail before here just for saying “Pakistan Zindabad, India Zindabad….Everybody Zindabad” in India

So Where is this Free Speech?

Some Halfwits say its because of Free Speech that i can write answers criticising the Government on Quora.

You can do the absolute same thing in China using Weibo or Zhihu.

Several People have criticized Xi for his Gaming restrictions or his Pop Music related restrictions every single day.

Because most people dont understand Mandarin or Russian - they dont know that Criticism in India, US, UK and China are almost always the same.

They always assume - if you criticize Xi - tomorrow Military Police may turn up outside your house.

That happens only in ‘B’ Grade communist propaganda movies.

Lets see “CENSORSHIP”

Singapore has Censorship, South Korea has Censorship, TAIWAN has Censorship, Japan has Censorship (It used Censorship to prevent publication of an article of a potential nuclear leak in 2009), India has Censorship

US, UK may not have censorship but again they have a thousand acts that they can use to prevent publication of any news. Just watch Humphrey Appelby in Yes Minister, Skeleton in the Cupboard and you can see a realistic example of how censorship works in US or UK.

Plus they have Tame Media or Biased Media that selectively cater to the news that their breadfeeders streamline them to do. Thats also censorship.

Yes China has a different System of Governance

China believes Communal Good scores over Individual Freedom

Others believe the opposite.

And you really believe Russians jailed people for shouting “Screw Brezhnev” in the streets? They would ignore such drunks.

China has only one Area where it restricts speech & creates censorship : When the Stablity of China could be at risk

When a Troublemaker tries to Divide China by divisive speech or anti govt rhetoric - He gets the chopping block.

A Pro Democracy Idiot in HK incites people to protest against legitimate Government, of course he will be arrested

You do remember a Group of Idiots protesting against an Election do you not? They protested against their legitimate Government

633 of them are indicted and likely to face 6 months - 3 years in Prison and they are charged with Sedition among other things.

It didnt happen in Wuhan or Shanghai or Shenzen. It happened in WASHINGTON DC , United States of America

Conclusion

Dont buy into this Western Myth of Freedom and Censorship and Totalitarian Dictatorship etc.

Chinese leave China every year and many settle down in Foreign Countries. The Population of China is high and its tougher to be successful in China than outside China.

Nobody gives a hoot.

The only people whose movements outside China are restricted and who need Exit Visas include - CEOs and Directors of Public Listed Companies, CEOs and Directors of Companies which have borrowed Public Money, Army Personnel, Advanced Research Scientists etc - all of whom could leak sensitive information

The Average Chinese Numbskull will be happily permitted to leave and even hope he never comes back. Its one mouth less to feed out of 1.4 Billion.
