There are generally two forms of censorship on the internet.

  1. China’s is fairly straightforward. They don’t hide it and claim to censor disinformation or sensitive topics that can disrupt public/social disorder. Everyone knows about the Great Firewall.
  2. The other form of censorship is what the rest of the world has (minus North Korea).

This one is hard to detect because it’s claimed that there’s free speech, yet speech is being controlled. Instead of banning speech, they fill the void with astroturfs, disinformation and upvote/downvote bots.

If the government fills a political topic with 90% disinformation and uses their astroturfs to character assassinate, mass downvote or shut down speech that’s trying to get to the truth, then this is a very dangerous form of censorship.

Think about it like this. In the Truman Show, does the creator Christof tell Truman from the start that he’s living in a lie? No. Once Truman figures out he’s living a lie, he leaves.

In 1984, when Winston’s working at the Ministry of Truth, do they announce to the world that the history they promote is fake and was changed by the government? No. Winston, who works at the Ministry and knows the real truth, is tortured and conditioned to love Big Brother.

Because of this, it’s what makes the Truman Show and Ministry of Truth more believable to their target audience. And like the Ministry of Truth, intelligence agencies have been pushing fake news onto you for decades.

  • 1984 was based on Orwell’s experience working at BBC between 1941–1943 and observing them pushing fake news:
1984: How BBC ‘inspired’ George Orwell's infamous torture cell
1984 is a dystopian masterpiece written by George Orwell - and unearthed accounts reveal that the author may have drawn inspiration for notorious torture cell Room 101 from his time at the BBC.

  • And here’s the government and oligarchs rewriting history and controlling speech online:
Social Media Is a Tool of the CIA. Seriously
The CIA publishes a helpful list of press releases on all the social media ventures it sponsors via its technology investment arm, In-Q-Tel.

Google is already helping the government write, and rewrite, history.

US military studied how to influence Twitter users in Darpa-funded research
Defense Department spent millions researching users, including studies on Occupy and Middle East residents, and how to better spread propaganda

However, papers leaked by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden indicate that US and British intelligence agencies have been deeply engaged in planning ways to covertly use social media for purposes of propaganda and deception. They included a unit engaged in “discrediting” the agency’s enemies with false information spread online.

HBGary - Wikipedia
American cybersecurity company HBGary is a subsidiary company of ManTech International , focused on technology security. In the past, two distinct but affiliated firms had carried the HBGary name: HBGary Federal , which sold its products to the US Government , [ 3 ] and HBGary, Inc. [ 4 ] Its other clients included information assurance companies, computer emergency response teams , and computer forensic investigators . [ 5 ] On 29 February 2012, HBGary, Inc. announced it had been acquired by IT services firm ManTech International . [ 6 ] At the same time, HBGary Federal was reported to be closed. [ 6 ] The company was founded by Greg Hoglund in 2003. [ 1 ] In 2008, it joined the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance. [ 5 ] The CEO made presentations at the Black Hat Briefings , the RSA Conference , and other computer security conferences . [ 7 ] [ 8 ] HBGary also analyzed the GhostNet and Operation Aurora events. [ 3 ] [ 7 ] HBGary Federal had been set up with Aaron Barr as CEO instead of Hoglund to provide services and tools to the US government, which might require security clearance. [ 9 ] As HBGary Federal could not meet revenue projections, in early 2011 negotiations about the sale of HBGary Federal were in progress with two interested companies. [ 3 ] [ 17 ] In a communiqué , Anonymous denied association with the individuals that Barr named. [ 18 ] [ 19 ] On 5–6 February 2011, Anonymous compromised the HBGary website, copied tens of thousands of documents from both HBGary Federal and HBGary, Inc., posted tens of thousands of both companies' emails online, and usurped Barr's Twitter account in apparent revenge. The CIA Used To Infiltrate The Media. Now The CIA Is The Media.
The CIA Used To Infiltrate The Media. Now The CIA Is The Media. Saturday, 17 April 2021, 1:31 pm Opinion: Caitlin Johnstone By Caitlin Johnstone Back in the good old days, when things were more innocent and simple, the psychopathic Central Intelligence Agency had to covertly infiltrate the news media to manipulate the information Americans were consuming about their nation and the world. Nowadays, there is no meaningful separation between the news media and the CIA at all. Journalist Glenn Greenwald just highlighted an interesting point about the reporting by The New York Times on the so-called "Bountygate" story the outlet broke in June of last year about the Russian government trying to pay Taliban-linked fighters to attack US soldiers in Afghanistan. "One of the NYT reporters who originally broke the Russia bounty story (originally attributed to unnamed 'intelligence officials') say today that it was a CIA claim," Greenwald tweeted . "So media outlets - again - repeated CIA stories with no questioning: congrats to all." Indeed, NYT's original story made no mention of CIA involvement in the narrative, citing only "officials," yet this latest article speaks as though it had been informing its readers of the story's roots in the lying, torturing , drug-running , warmongering Central Intelligence Agency from the very beginning. The author even writes "The New York Times first reported last summer the existence of the C.I.A.’s assessment," with the hyperlink leading to the initial article which made no mention of the CIA. It wasn't until later that The New York Times began reporting that the CIA was looking into the Russian bounties allegations at all. So media outlets - again - repeated CIA stories with no questioning: congrats to all. https://t.co/4GbUXBCOpI — Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) April 15, 2021 This would be the same "Russian bounties" narrative which was discredited all the way back in September when the top US military official in Afghanistan said no satisfactory evidence had surfaced for the allegations, which was further discredited today with a new article by The Daily Beast titled " U.S. Intel Walks Back Claim Russians Put Bounties on American Troops ". The Daily Beast , which has itself uncritically published many articles promoting the CIA "Bountygate" narrative, reports the following: It was a blockbuster story about Russia’s return to the imperial “Great Game” in Afghanistan. The Kremlin had spread money around the longtime central Asian battlefield for militants to kill remaining U.S. forces. It sparked a massive outcry from Democrats and their #resistance amplifiers about the treasonous Russian puppet in the White House whose admiration for Vladimir Putin had endangered American troops. But on Thursday, the Biden admini

US plans to 'fight the net' revealed
A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks. The document says information is "critical to military success" Bloggers beware. As the world turns networked, the Pentagon is calculating the military opportunities that computer networks, wireless technologies and the modern media offer. From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attack" weapons, the US military is learning to fight an electronic war. The declassified document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It was obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University using the Freedom of Information Act. Officials in the Pentagon wrote it in 2003. The Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, signed it. The "roadmap" calls for a far-reaching overhaul of the military's ability to conduct information operations and electronic warfare. And, in some detail, it makes recommendations for how the US armed forces should think about this new, virtual warfare. The document says that information is "critical to military success". Computer and telecommunications networks are of vital operational importance. Propaganda The operations described in the document include a surprising range of military activities: public affairs officers who brief journalists, psychological operations troops who try to manipulate the thoughts and beliefs of an enemy, computer network attack specialists who seek to destroy enemy networks. All these are engaged in information operations. The wide-reaching document was signed off by Donald Rumsfeld Perhaps the most startling aspect of the roadmap is its acknowledgement that information put out as part of the military's psychological operations, or Psyops, is finding its way onto the computer and television screens of ordinary Americans. "Information intended for foreign audiences, including public diplomacy and Psyops, is increasingly consumed by our domestic audience," it reads. "Psyops messages will often be replayed by the news media for much larger audiences, including the American public," it goes on. The document's authors acknowledge that American news media should not unwittingly broadcast military propaganda. "Specific boundaries should be established," they write. But they don't seem to explain how. "In this day and age it is impossible to prevent stories that are fed abroad as part of psychological operations propaganda from blowing back into the United States - even though they were directed abroad," says Kristin Adair of the National Security Archive. Credibility problem Public awareness of the US military's information operations is low, but it's growing - thanks to some operational clumsiness. When it describes plans for electronic warfare, or EW, the document takes on an extraordinary tone. It seems to see the internet as being equivalent to an enemy weapons sy

3. Now, do these news reports of government-backed disinformation and social media control match reality?

  • All you need to do is to look for sensitive topics that the US government doesn’t want you talking about and claims to be conspiracy theories or Russian/Chinese disinformation. Topics that are already public knowledge don’t apply.

Go over in extreme detail on these topics, read all sources on the other side of the argument and figure out the truth. Then try to spread this truth on social media giants like Reddit, Twitter, Youtube, Facebook.

The better you are at getting to the truth and proving it, the more censorship tactics will be applied to you.

  • Another thing to look for is upvote patterns and catchy propaganda messages. On Reddit and r/worldnews, there are massively upvoted “China bad” threads every week/month. In these threads, users massively repeat propaganda terms such as “fuck China”, “Free Tibet”, “West Taiwan”, etc. They don’t want real conversation, they want to manufacture hate.
  • Topics they try to control include:
  1. Domestic political candidates. They want their own ppl in power.
  2. Geopolitics (Russia, Iran, Taliban, China..any country they’re illegally operating in)
  3. Trump - the establishment don’t like him
  4. Systemic pedophilia. Intelligence agencies use it for blackmail and cover it up with help from media
  5. COVID-19. Controlled the narrative right from the start.
