Do you believe in a literal Rapture that Jesus didn't teach and defies all logic and science?

Eric Enburg Comment: Therefore, on contextual grounds as well as vocabulary usage. I would disagree that the one “taken” is the sinner grinding at the mill. In addition, those who are caught up are likewise revealed in verses 29-31 which is a strong parallel to the sixth seal, Revelation 6:12-17, in which devastation from heaven rains down and Christ is seen appearing in the heavens. This is followed 9 verses later in chapter 7 with the appearance of those who have come out of the Great Tribulation from every tribe, tongue, and nation. The seven-year period of Daniel’s 70th week as you know occurs during the seventh seal, Revelation 11 and 13, thus the argument for a pre-tribulation harpazo.

Guy Response: Thank you for your comment which deserves a full-rounded response.

First, what does the Bible say about one left and the other taken?

Matthew 24:40-41 (KJV) - Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

This sure seems to support what you are suggesting which is why it is necessary to read further.

If we go back to verse 30 we find out what is taking place when verses 40 & 41 happen.

Matthew 24:30 (KJV) - And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Lending yet further support to the rapture principle. However, there is a problem brewing:

Matthew 24:37 (KJV) - But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

How is that verse a problem?

It is not, but rather it supports what was said in verse 30. The problem begins in the very next verse and the one following.

Matthew 24:38-39 (KJV) - 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

So what happened in the days of Noah.

Genesis 6–9 make it clear that Noah built a boat. What was the purpose of this boat?

1 Peter 3:20 (KJV) - Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

So Noah who called for whoever would enter into the boat was saved. What happened to the rest?

2 Peter 2:5 (KJV) - And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

They were swept away and drowned in a worldwide flood.

But what does this have to do with the verses you brought forward?

Let's revisit them:

Matthew 24:40-41 (KJV) - Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Two in the field - One taken - One left

Two grinding - One taken - One left

Do you see it?

Noah, the righteous was not the one taken but rather the wickedness of the hearts of the Antediluvians was.

Let me repeat, the wicked one was the one taken, not the righteous. The righteous person was left.

If this is a parallel verse to the days of Noah then it must play out in the same way as the story of Noah.

Noah was not the one taken.

Noah was the one left.

So let's look at your equation one more time.

Two in the field (one righteous one wicked) - One taken (the wicked one) - One left (the righteous one)

Two doing grinding (one righteous one wicked) - One taken (the wicked one) - One left (the righteous one)

Thus we can conclude from Scripture itself that if this explains the rapture it must by definition be the rapture of the wicked not the righteous.
