Is First Firmament more powerful than Eternity in Marvel comics?

Thanks for 2A2.

Not anymore it isn't. Only for a brief period did it had a chance to perhaps end Eternity for good.

So let's give people some background to this question.

The First Firmament was the very first universe of the Marvel Omniverse. When there was only one universe and no Multiverse.

In time the First Firmament created what we came to know as the Celestials. Because apparently the First Firmament was lonely and it wanted someone to share things with.

But it made one huge mistake. It shared its power with its own creation. In time his creation sought to create as well. That led the Celestials to fight between themselves.

And when the Celestials went to war, that war eventually tore apart that universe. With only a small part of the First Firmament surviving in the Outside.

[The Outside is the dimension where the Marvel Multiverse exists in]

But from most of the First Firmament, a Second Firmament came to be. And that Firmament was the first Multiverse of Marvel.

Eventually that Firmament came to die as well, all the way up to the Seventh Firmament. Which was the Marvel Multiverse before the Incursions event and Secret Wars.

Now we got the current Eight Firmament. A completely new Multiverse that Blue Marvel and others have already understood that the rules of the previous Firmament have fundamentally changed.

And here was when the First Firmament decided to strike. While the other Firmaments went about their existence, the First Firmament was gathering itself and recovering.

And when the Eight Firmament was forming the First Firmament decided to strike. It began by corrupting the Abstracts that help regulate the Eight Firmament.

It was able to make it so Master Order and Lord Chaos were able to kill the Living Tribunal.

Not only did they killed the Living Tribunal, but they then wanting to replace the Living Tribunal, they went after the In-Betweener. And as Lord Chaos devoured the In-Betweener, Master Order devoured Lord Chaos, thus becoming the new abstract entity known as Logos.

And thus the stage was set for the First Firmament to come back.

In order to keep some key players from interfering Logos even apparently kills off all the Celestials, but one who is saved by the Never Queen.

The First Firmament was able to do all of this because it had recovered most of its power while the Eight Firmament (Eternity) was still forming itself, coming into its true power.

So the First Firmament was only able to do anything because the Eight Firmament was still weakened.

In the end it all came down to the new team of Ultimates, and beings like Galactus, Psi-Hawk, The Infinaut, and Ego-Prime… For the Eight Firmament to even stand a chance.

The Eternity Watch (a very temporary team) buyed the Ultimates enough time to realize the solution to saving the Eight Firmament.

And that solution came in the form of one simple truth… Nothing dies!

Meaning that if the First Firmament was able to survive then the other Firmaments could be called upon as well. And so they were.

And we came to learn about all the other previous Firmaments.

With all the Firmaments together, the First Firmament is subdued and taken to where Firmaments go after they die.

And as the Eight Firmament is finally free, so too everything begins to go back to normal.

Thus the First Firmament by itself was never more powerful than Eternity.

Except when it finally recovered its power and Eternity was at its weakest.

But it did show us that many of the Abstracts like the Living Tribunal apparent superior power comes from rules/laws that create a very strict hierarchy. And obviously when Eternity was at its weakest the First Firmament was able to mess with those rules/laws and show that even Living Tribunal can be killed by beings that supposedly should be far weaker than the Tribunal.

It also served to show how those same abstracts are limited in what they can do and how they can go about doing it.

But in the end it was clear that every Firmament will die sooner or later. And that they then move on to someplace else that exists beyond the Outside.

And there they apparently wait for the other Firmaments that will join them in time.

Also each Firmament has a role to play.

Here's a list of what each Firmament role was:

  • 1st Firmament

Created the Celestials.

Its death brought about the creation of the first Multiverse.

  • 2nd Firmament

Created the Omega Force.

  • 3rd Firmament

Created the first Lifebringer. The very first Hero.

  • 4th Firmament

Was not present. But he's known as the Pilgrim. The true believer that journeys into mystery.

  • 5th Firmament

Created magic.

  • 6th Firmament

Created science and the junction that leads to everywhere.

  • 7th Firmament

It was the first Firmament that had a twin. Infinity was Eternity and Eternity was Infinity.

And now only future generations will learn the role of the 8th Firmament and the other Firmaments to come.

Assuming of course people are still reading comics by the end of this century.
