My bf, after meeting my family: “ you’re so sophisticated, hard working, successful. I don't get how you came from them.” To be clear: my parents aren't millionaires and we don't travel on fancy vacations, but they did raise two kids WHILE they worked and put themselves through college. Mom and brother are both teachers, dad is a computer programmer. Pretty damn successful and hard working, IMO.

Needless to say, we broke up soon after that.
