I have always looked far younger than I am. As I got older I started getting more and more reactions until I finally turned 70 and it was like the flood gates opened. Now I get a shocked even from physicians where I go. The female physicians react the most. I am 71 now and the extreme reactions to looking far younger started in earnest when I first hit 70. A doctor would walk in, look at me, look at their mini-chart, look back at me and then just stare. Female physicians reacted the most. I knew what was going on because I had experienced it enough times to be very aware. I even got reactions from physicians that knew me. This leads me to believe that 70 may be a magic number where they expect you to look just plain old. I certainly can pass for early 50’s or even younger. It is only a few features that do it. Lack of wrinkles is a big one. Not being bald and not having much grey is another one. The picture on Quora is no more than about 2 years old. At 70+ I don’t really mind. People put me in a different generation and expect different views and behavior from me as a result. That can be a little hard. I have a girlfriend who is 36 who I have been going with for a good 13 years. When we would go out of town people would often refer to her as my daughter. That stopped a long time ago. I can assure you that she does not look older than her years. I really believe there are a lot of women who would not want to be seen with me if they were 36 and I looked as old as I really am. That is just the way it is. I ask around. This whole looking younger thing kind of forces me to only want to go around with women who look closer to the age people think I am. Otherwise it causes nervousness. Generally, I would think it would be a good thing but certainly not always. That is a major problem to me. It is hard not to fit in especially with people you have known almost your entire lifetime. It causes problems and they are the sort of problems that cause social nervousness and that certainly is not a plus. People want to fit in and this can be a big problem in that regard. It is! My suggestion is not to dye your hair grey and wrinkle up your facial skin. Just act your age and it will catch up. It can be done.
